A Quick Word

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. First we would like to apologize to you all for the lack of columns since July. We all have had personal and family matters to attend to. Second, we would like to thank all of you out there for your support. And we look forward to many more years of blogging to come. As Thomas Paine would say: “These are the times that try mens souls.” But as our forefathers survived their challenges, we will survive ours! It is easy to get discouraged, but we have every reason to hope. For we carry the true spirit of the United States of America in us all. 

America cannot be killed because it is more than land, it is an eternal ideal. And ideas unlike people cannot be killed. The way we defeat the darkness is to not emulate it. Every act of positive goodness and holiness matters. Many of us here have been harmed and mistreated by people who are supposed to represent the ideals of Hoosierdom and Americanism. 

We all carry our own scars, we all have our difficulties. But thanks to the good and noble actions of our ancestors, those we love and ourselves. We all can find ways to heal ourselves, our state, and our nation. As it is written: “Let not your heart be troubled.” John 14:1-3, also it is written “Do not worry about tomorrow, for everyday has enough worry unto itself.” Matthew 6:34

We all understand to well the lonely walk of staying on the straight and narrow. We also are painfully aware that many will misunderstand our goals and ideals. As fallible men and women such misunderstandings are not unusual. 

To those who disagree with us: There is no malice or ill will towards you from any of us. Although we are optimistic about the future, we write with the full knowledge that our activism might cost us our lives. We don’t wish to have our lives ended. But if and when our time in this world ends, we will have no regrets. 

Let us close with a quote from President Lincoln, a man who gave his life for all of us:  "With malice toward none with charity for all with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right let us strive on to finish the work we are in to bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan ~ to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations."

Is Blogging Worth It? Yes it is!

It has been almost two years since IR started to opine on the Central Indiana Blogsphere. We started writing a short time before our good friend Gary Welsh passed away. At first we thought we had to write as often as Gary did in order to be a good blogger. But as we have continued to speak our minds on the things that matter most to us. We have experienced great joy. We have managed to increase our output greatly since we began. But we no longer feel a need to compete against our friends Gary Welsh, Paul Ogden or Jon Easter. Don’t get us wrong we look up to all of these men and strive to have the same good qualities they do. But we must be ourselves above all. We miss Gary Welsh to this day and we feel his loss now as much as we did when he died. But we also feel as much gratitude and brotherly affection for him and his work as we ever did. All of our lives are better off that he lived. IR has gained to our great satisfaction an excellent readership. We only have hundreds not the thousands of daily readers that Advance Indiana had and our readership is still far below that of our friend Paul Ogden’s Ogden on Politics blog. But we have never been happier. Pliny the Elder said: 
“True glory consists in doing what deserves to be written; in writing what deserves to be read; and in so living as to make the world happier for our living in it.”

Gary Welsh, Paul Ogden, Jon Easter and ourselves have made the world around us happier for having lived in it. So we will keep firing away as we deem necessary at the villains of the world. We must do so on our own terms and no one else’s. We would encourage anyone who wants to blog to do so. But always remember that your blog should help lift you up not wear you down. If it starts to wear you down take a break. The world will not stop nor will the sun stop shining if you take time away from blogging.

Election recovery

We here at Indy Republican have been deeply moved by all the attention and support we all here have received from our readers. It's true we were wrong in most of our election predictions. But it happens.  We are still as determined as ever to hold those in power accountable. We will be posting some new items soon. We just need to still recover from this bat sh!t insane election year. Live Blogging the Historic 2016 Election Results

Good evening all! We here at Indy REPUBLICAN will be providing updates throughout the night. Not much in so far. Judging by email and social media traffic we have seen today. John Gregg's campaign seems to still be running strong today. Eric Holcomb's people still seem to be uncoordinated. "Tennessee Trey" Hollingsworth has been campaigning all day in his district and seems to be in trouble in his race. We will bring you more news as we are able.

As of 7:40 PM Trump has carried Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia. In Indiana looking rough for Evan Bayh. Trey Hollingsworth and Shelli Yoder are dead even. Ritz and Gregg are behind their REPUBLICAN opponents. Most of the state has not reported. The races for Governor & SPI maybe shaping up to be nail bitters! We will keep you all up to date!

Closing in on 9 in the PM. And the we at the IR newsdesk are wanting to pull our hair out! At this rate it's looking bad for Gregg and Ritz if they lose by these margins we see a lot of mass firings at the Indiana Democratic Party! At least Bayh looks like is done for! We certainly hope so!

Holcomb, Hollingsworth have won there races. Glenda Ritz has also lost her race. Holcomb's win is the biggest surprise of the night. Will do a full post mortem of tonight's state and national elections. Our only thoughts tonight as to Holcomb's win is that Trump's momentum in Indiana and Hoosier voters dislike of Hillary Clinton was to much for Gregg to overcome. Inspite of some disappoints tonight we are all thrilled beyond measure that Evan Bayh will not be returned to the Senate. That is a huge win for all Hoosiers!
