Matt Tully Is Dead

We just received word that our old nemesis Matt Tully of the Indianapolis Star has died of cancer. We had no love for Matt Tully and IR won’t lie and say we thought much of him before or now. We still despise his role in attacking Gary Welsh and Charlie White. But we didn’t want this to happen. Tully every once in a good while wrote decent articles. And by all accounts was a good husband and father. Our prayers to his family and friends. Also Matt sorry you suffered the way you did. But you are at peace now. That’s all that matters. Someday we will bury the hatchet and start again. Good or Bad you kept us on our toes.

Rest In Peace Brother Matthew

Matt Tully throws stones at fellow a$&hole Todd Rokita

Matt Tully

Earlier today the IR gang checked out IndyStar and found a semi decent article written by the papers resident mental midget Matt Tully. We checked through our archives and the last time we decided to punish ourselves by mentioning the king of the Indianapolis Circle Jerks was last year when we discussed Tully’s bromance with Carmel Mayor Jim “Crash” Brainard. In his most recent opinion piece for the Star. Tully writes about what a useless tool Congressman Todd Rokita is.

Tully writes:

The most cynical cheap shot artist in Indiana politics today, the 4th district congressman took his behavior to a new low in recent days. He did so by taking an unfair shot at an Indiana city he should be trying to help, but one he couldn't help himself from trying to hurt in his quest for political gain.

But befitting his campaign of empty red-meat rhetoric, Rokita went to Twitter last week to unfairly and inaccurately label Gary a “sanctuary city” in "our own backyard." There could be only one goal in doing this: To infuriate what will likely be a small primary electorate by exploiting the negative feelings many in Indiana feel toward Gary. Rokita’s angry and laughable “we’re-not-going-to-take-it-anymore” campaign has been based on little more than inciting ill will toward liberals, Democrats, those who disagree with him, and now, apparently, entire cities.Still, this is a new low.

Real leaders who seek to represent the state try to bring us together. They remind us that we are better off when all of our state’s communities do better. Not Rokita. And while it is not the least bit surprising given his past rhetoric, it is jarring after years of watching true Republican leaders, such as former Gov. Mitch Daniels, work to help Gary move forward.

What do you expect from a guy who has lived on taxpayer-funded paychecks for two decades but who now tries to portray himself as an outsider?

To be fair to Mister Tully it is no secret that this blog is no fan of Todd Rokita. And Tully is correct to point out how Todd has spent much of his adult life living at taxpayer expense. But Tully is all to aware of the sins of his beloved masters former Governor Mitch Daniels and former Senator Dick Lugar. Tully though when he had a chance to call Dick Lugar on the carpet for his having committed voter fraud for 35 years. Or to seriously investigate Senator Evan Bayh’s voter issues. Tully as documented by Paul Ogden and Gary Welsh.
Tully proceeded to attack those of who rightfully questioned the Indianapolis Press Corps unwillingness to go after Lugar and Bayh. We applaud Tully for highlighting some of Todd Rokita’s shortcomings. But Tully has shown once again how he is nothing more than a shill for the Indiana Political Elites. It appears that he and his “Circle Jerk Club” as Gary Welsh called Tully and his minions. Is alive and well. Strangely for a man who is well connected to very powerful people. Old Matt is very insecure and thin skinned. As many of us here have learned after attempting to communicate with Matt Tully via Facebook, Twitter and other means. Tully is so thin skinned that he will block anyone who asks him serious questions. Indy Republican has a message for our old friend Tully. The message is this: “You may have thought that the untimely passing of Gary Welsh meant you could avoid being called out on your bullshit. Once again as you usually are you were wrong Tully. Gary Welsh and Paul Ogden lit a fire under all of us. We will not stop until you and your circus freaks are out of business. Gary Welsh maybe dead. But let’s just say death is no barrier from Gary calling you out.” Good night fellow malcontents. As for you Tully go to Hell you piece of crap.

Joyriding Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard Crashed City Car

This mornings edition of the Indianapolis Star reported that RINO Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard had crashed a Carmel city car last month.

Indystar reporter Chris Sikich reporting on last months crash writes:

No one was injured or cited in the crash, although the driver of the vehicle Brainard hit faces a charge for driving without a license.
Brainard was driving northbound on 3rd Avenue SW around 2 p.m. April 20 when he crossed the center line along the curve north of Carmel Drive, according to the Carmel Police Department report. Jose Guzman Uribe, 36, Indianapolis, was driving southbound in a 2006 Chevy Silverado hauling a trailer for his lawn-mowing business. Brainard crashed into the trailer.
The mayor told police he was feeling fatigued before he crossed the center line, according to the report.
Brainard did not respond to an interview request. In an emailed statement, city spokeswoman Nancy Heck said the mayor was returning to City Hall from a meeting in Downtown Indianapolis.
The city is leasing the 2017 Ford Fusion Titanium, the highest end of the Fusion models, for $649.45 a month. The mayor signed the three-year lease through Tom Wood via Quality Leasing Co. in July 2016 as part of his benefit package. That's $23,380 over the life of the lease, plus expenses such as oil changes. The Fusion's retail price is $32,018.
Heck said insurance will buy out the lease for $29,588.50. The city will pay a $500 deductible, she said. The mayor is driving another city-owned car.

Heck said the trailer was damaged, but no claim has been submitted to the city.
Lt. Joe Bickel, Carmel Police Department's public information officer, said it is up to the officer at the scene to decide whether to conduct a sobriety test or cite a motorist involved in a crash. In this case, the officer didn't think either was warranted.
Harvey Lancaster, an attorney with Hensley Legal Group, which specializes in traffic crashes, said police typically only issue tickets in crashes if they witness a violation. He said officers have discretion to conduct toxicology tests based on what they witness.
"It varies from case to case," he said.
It appears that Mayor Brainard has crashed a city owned vehicle at least once before.
Sikich continues:
In November 2002, he T-boned a school bus in a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, while attempting to turn left on 99th Street to Westfield Boulevard. No one was injured, but both vehicles were damaged.
Jose Guzman Uribe the unlicensed driver of the car that was towing the trailer that Brainard hit. Has been charged with a Class A misdemeanor for driving without a license. He previously received a 60 day suspended sentence in 2014 for driving with out a license.
IR has been unable to uncover any other information about Brainard's 2002 T-Boning of a school bus. Late last year we posted about Mayor Brainard and the Star's Matt Tully's mancrush on Brainard. That was about the article that Tully wrote proclaiming that Brainard was woefully underpaid as mayor. Tully as usual was simply lavishing praise on another member of Tully's Circle Jerk Club!
As far as we can deduce from the information available to us we cannot see any evidence of the police acting improperly at this time. But Brainard's stating that he was fatigued at the time of the incident, along with rumors that Brainard has been suffering from some unrevealed health malady for some time now, possibly prior to 2010. Coupled with sources telling IR that Mayor Brainard is reputed to be very hyperactive, an extreme multitasker, and now having been involved in two traffic accidents during his 20 year reign as mayor. This does raise very serious questions about whether he is physically up to the demands of his job. He may very well be. We strongly would recommend to Mayor Brainard that he get himself medical care ASAP. He also needs to be straight forward with Carmelites about his health. If he is not careful he or others maybe hurt or even killed. If anyone has any information about this incident or Brainard's 2002 accident. Please fill out our contact form on the web version on the Indy Republican blog, or contact Paul Ogden of Ogden On Politics fame, or call Chris Sikich at 317-444-6036, or WRTV reporter Kara Kenney via twitter or Facebook.
Fellow Blogger Paul Ogden also reported on old Jimbo Brainard's driving issues here.

Marion County Republican Chairman Jim Merritt Blows Smoke at Matt Tully

Vacation was outstanding. But know time to get down to business. In a previous blog post we brought you the story about RINO State Senator Jim Merritt was seeking to run ruin the Marion County Republican Party by seeking election as it's chairman. Since that time as we expected Merritt has been successful at becoming Marion County GOP Chairman. He recently sat down with our most hated establishment flunky Matt Tully to spout nonsense about how he will revive the Republican Party in Marion County. Tully writes:

Marion County Republican Chairman Jim Merritt

Jim Merritt understands the task he’s taken on. It’s a tough one. Politically speaking, it doesn’t get much more daunting than this.
Merritt, the longtime state senator from Indy's northeast side, recently won his bid to become the new chairman of the Marion County Republican Party.

Republicans have been swamped in every countywide election in recent years. They control none of the major offices in a city that has tilted more and more heavily to the Democratic side in recent years. Hillary Clinton won the county by 82,000 votes last year. Mayor Joe Hogsett won 62 percent of the vote in 2015, joining a long list of Democrats who have won big here in recent years. The GOP has lagged badly on fundraising.

"Ass Kisser" Tully quotes Merritt as saying:

“The Republican Party is in limbo in Marion County,” Merritt said. “We have to improve ourselves. I wouldn’t want to invest in the Republican Party locally right now.”
But he did, adding county chairman to his gig at the state Senate, where he has been a powerful voice on issues such as hunger and opioid addiction in recent years. He says he has to start “with the basics, the blocking and tackling of politics” as party chairman, recruiting new precinct workers and raising money. But then the party must focus on doing a better job of offering ideas and an “urban Republican model” that can appeal to more people.

“We have to show people that we can challenge Democrats and lead the county on tough issues,” he said. “In Indianapolis, we cannot be the party of ‘no.’ Not this time. This city obviously has crime problems, fiscal problems, infrastructure problems. There’s an opportunity to show that a Republican model of a big city can work.”
Unlike in many larger cities, Republicans at least don’t have to go too far back in history to find big moments of success. Former Mayor Greg Ballard won a surprise victory in 2007 and then cruised to re-election four years later. Former Gov. Mitch Daniels, elected in 2004 and 2008, won the county big. Those two men, known for running pragmatic, idea-driven administrations that didn’t get caught up on social issues and appealed to voters from both parties, have provided the road map for success in a big city, Merritt argues.
“We’ve got to be about having a broader appeal,” he said.

As evidence of that, Daniels won the county by almost 50,000 votes in 2008 after running, in large part, on a message of government efficiency, thinking bigger and making Indiana more attractive to employers. Four years later, fellow Republican Mike Pence, with his well-established position as a socially conservative leader, lost the county by 80,000 votes. That 130,000-vote swing tells you a lot about what kind of Republican can sell in Indianapolis.

The above paragraphs shows why under Jim Merritt the Democrats are in no danger of losing their dominance in Marion County. If anything the Marion County GOP will only continue to shrink. It's true that Greg Ballard was elected as Indianapolis Mayor twice and both times Mitch Daniels ran he carried Marion County. The problem is that Daniels was running against very weak opponents. That is the only reason he carried Marion County. In 2012 and 2016 both times the Republican Gubenatorial Candidate lost Marion County by large margins. Mike Pence did better in Lake County than he did in Marion and there are no republicans in Lake County! Ballard only won in 2007 because Bart Peterson was stupid enough to shoot himself in the foot prior to the election by pushing to raise Indianapolis's property taxes. In 2011 he narrowly won reelection against a very weak opponent. So citing Daniels and Ballard as a way for republicans to regain ground in Indianapolis is not a good suggestion. The baseline republican vote in Marion County is around 40% and that seems to be dropping each election. Greg Ballard is not very well liked by rank-and-file republicans due to his nonstop taxing and spending, his hostility to gun owners, and his turning the keys to Indianapolis over to the establishment hacks in both parties.

Merritt is moving the county party out of its standalone location and into the state party headquarters, a cost-cutting move but also one he hopes will help the local party better coordinate with a state organization that has won a solid string of elections in recent years. He believes he has a better chance of growing the party locally with the election of Gov. Eric Holcomb, a Republican who has won praise across party lines.

He is focusing on local races in 2018 and helping current GOP council members better get the word out on their initiatives. He is already scouting for 2019 mayoral candidates, but he knows the party must improve its infrastructure in order to attract a top nominee. Above all, Merritt said, the party must market itself as a force trying to improve the community by offering smart ideas on core city issues.
“If we do our job and add solid people to the organization and support a broad range of candidates, we have a chance,” he said. “Greg Ballard proved it, and that wasn’t so long ago. We have a chance to win in this county. But we have to give people a reason to want to be Republicans.”

Why Merritt thinks that Eric Holcomb will be able to help rebuild the Marion County GOP is beyond us. If the above photograph of Merritt is any indicator than it would seem likely that Merritt just has no damn clue what the hell he is doing! He looks like his brain is struggling to deal with his own stupidity! Holcomb lost Marion County by a large margin last year in his race for Governor. And years ago when Holcomb was the State Republican Chairman he did less than nothing to help out the Marion County GOP.  Holcomb seems like the person to go to if you want to mess things up in Indianapolis! Merritt is the last person who should be speaking about building the party up. He is one of the insiders that tried to defeat Christine Scales in the 2015 Primary and was probably a factor in her leaving the Republican Party. If Matt Tully had any brains he would have asked Jim Merritt for specifics on how he intends to fix the GOP. But he won't because that would cost him points with the members of his circle jerk club! Time will tell but so far there is no reason for us to believe that Merritt will do anything other than to continue turning the Marion County GOP into a wholly owned subsidiary of the Marion County Democratic Party.

Tabloid Indianapolis Star Peddling more Pro-Establishment Propaganda

In yesterday's edition of Pravda Indiana. The Stars digital producer Dwight Adams wrote here about how according to US News and World Report, Indiana's State Government is ranked the best state government in the United States. The Hoosier State was given this distinction it is said because of "Indiana's excellent credit rating, low pension fund liability, and budget transparency." Indiana Governor Eric "Bagman" Holcomb in response to the Star's Press Release report about how Indiana has the greatest state government in the known universe said: "Strong leadership over the last 12 years has made our government efficient." "It's my (Eric Holcomb) goal to continue this success and elevate our position on all fronts."

IR is curious as to just what "success" Governor Holcomb wishes to continue. Is he referring to the disastrous reign at FSSA of Mitch Roob? The incompetent reign of the IDOI and IURC by Jim Atterholt who unjustly fired Paul Ogden? Does he wish to continue the legacy of "Godfather Governor" Mitch Daniels of firing and destroying state whistleblowers like the venerable Paul Ogden? Does Holcomb intend to continue turning a blind eye towards misconduct committed by the likes of former Indiana Schools Superintendent Tony Bennett? If so then the hell with Holcomb and his definition of success!

Drivel like this out of the "Downtown Mafia's" paper of record proves conclusively that the Indianapolis Star is no longer home to people like Dick Cady and Ruth Holliday. But now serves only to spew out whatever Matt Tully and his circle jerk club are told to write by their paymasters. We encourage people to checkout Dick Cady's book "Deadline Indianapolis" for a glimpse as to what the Star used to be. No doubt Advance Indiana's Gary Welsh is laughing from his grave at Indiana being given the "Best Government" designation! We all here long ago canceled our subscriptions to the Star. We advise all of you to do the same. Let's drink to the day when the Star is gone!

Trouble in Paradise? Angie's List to layoff undisclosed number of employees!

Wednesday  night Fox 59 reported that the taxpayer funded racket Angie's List is going to be making some cutbacks in it's workforce.

Fox 59 said yesterday:

Angie’s List isn’t being specific tonight on layoffs reported in Indianapolis on Wednesday.
Employees at its East Washington Street campus confirmed to FOX59 that layoffs did in fact take place, but there have been no details released from the company.
Angie's List has been subtly indicating that it would be looking for cost cuttings measures. Marketwatch reports stocks went up 3.5 percent Tuesday after the company publicized that it was putting itself up for sale and exploring strategic alternatives.
Third quarter net losses released Tuesday showed Angie’s List took a $16.8 million hit.
A company spokesperson issued this statement to FOX59 Wednesday afternoon:
As we covered on the earnings call yesterday, we're always looking to drive efficiencies and have identified another $15-$20m in savings. These are primarily workforce related and targeting non-revenue generating headcount.
Those of you who follow INDY REPUBLICAN, Advance Indiana, and Ogden on Politics are familiar with Angie's List and it's underhanded way of doing business. Former Angie's List CEO & Co-Founder  Bill Oesterle has been a particularly frequent target for criticism by our staff, the now deceased Gary Welsh, Paul Ogden and Charlie White. Although we don't envy the 150 plus layoffs our sources tell us are coming at Angie's List. In a way it's only poetic justice that this Frankenstein monster that Oesterle and his cohorts have created is like the walls of Jericho is "a tumbling down"! Thank God for small favors! No wonder Bill went flying out of Angie's List like a bat out of hell last year! He is forever grateful to "Asskisser" Matt Tully and his minions in the media for not reporting on Billy's lack of business acumen.

Matt Tully thinks Carmel Mayor "RINO" Jim Brainaird is Underpaid!

Good evening everyone. This is the INDY REPUBLICAN staff saying we hope you all had a decent start to your week today. As you all have figured out by now those of at this blog are not fans of Pravda Indiana Indianapolis Star Useless Fool writer Matt Tully. Like the late Gary Welsh we are certainly not fans of Tully and his Circle Jerk Club! Just when you think Tully is incapable of writing any more insipid trash he pulls through and writes more drivel for his establishment paymasters! In todays Star Tully has an article arguing in favor of Carmel RINO Mayor Jim "Taxman" Brainard and other Indiana mayors getting pay raises!  Tully asks us to "hear him out before declaring him the president of the out-of-his-mind club!" Well we all hear can think of next to nothing we would rather do than listen to Matt Tully's girly ravings! But in the spirit of being kind we will indulge him now. So Okay Matt! Let's tell our readers in your own words why you think Mayor's should receive a pay raise!

Tully's bullsh*t's writes:

Indiana residents from Lake Michigan to the Ohio River, in cities big and small, would be wise to be more open to raising the pay of their mayors. Yes, there's the opinion I warned you about, the crazy one. A call for higher pay for elected officials.
Well, not all elected officials.
This is specifically about mayors. And about the uniquely challenging and critical job of leading a city. Few things do more to drive a state forward, or to hold it back, than the quality and strength of its many communities. And few things impact the direction of a city more than the quality of its mayor.
No, money is not the most important factor. I get that. And, yes, being a mayor is about public service. I get that, too. Still, it's worth remembering the old you-get-what-you-pay-for adage.
In the words of Matt Greller, CEO of the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns, "Mayors are at the forefront of the talent attraction and quality of place revolution occurring throughout the country."
If you want a state filled with energy, ideas, ambition and visionary thinking — and who doesn't? — you'd be smart to start by making sure you have the best people leading our cities. Cities are where new ideas bubble up, where innovation is most often found, where entrepreneurs emerge, and where states are most clearly defined. You often hear that states are the laboratory of ideas for the federal government. Well, the same can be said for cities and state government.
Few state leaders have done more to drive Indiana forward, or to draw more people here, than the mayors who have reinvigorated Indianapolis in recent decades.

Okay folks we are going to stop here for just a moment and get our barf bags! What the Hell Planet do you Live on Mr. Tully? What Indianapolis mayors have "reinvigorated" the city? Steve Goldsmith? Bart Peterson? Greg "Full of Crap" Ballard? Or perhaps current Indianapolis Mayor "Lazy" Joe Hogsett? If anybody out there needs anymore proof that Matt Tully is just a hack who sold his soul to the bipartisan political establishment that runs much of this state. His argument that mayors should receive raises should put any doubts about that issue to rest! Come on Tully! Are you seriously saying that we should give Jim Brainard a man who as mayor has been accused of hiring private investigators to spy on Fishers residents as Gary Welsh chronicled back in 2011? Read Welsh's article here if you want to know what kind of a man that Mr. Tully looks for when picking a city mayor!

In marked contrast to Tully's endless butt kissing. Here comes like manna from heaven, an article written by The Man Who Should Have Matt Tully's Job! Paul Ogden of Ogden on Politics fame has written a post today entitled: "Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard's Budget Requests Nearly 40% Increase in Pay".

Paul Ogden had this to say today:

At a time when families are struggling and local politicians are continually asking for higher taxes on those families, it is appalling to see politicians raising their own pay.  The Current in Carmel reports:
Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard has submitted his budget for 2017, along with a salary ordinance that includes a $50,000 pay raise for himself, which is a 40 percent increase.
The mayor’s salary is proposed to increase from $127,946 a year to $179,344 a year. It
Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard
will be introduced at the City Council meeting on Oct. 3 but will likely not be passed on first reading to allow the public time to comment.

Prior to the ordinance being released, Brainard told Current in Carmel that his salary was going up, “around $35,000 or $40,000 or something.”
“City manager salaries can be way above that,” he said. “In some cities they make $200,000 or $300,000.”
Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett makes $99,000 a year. When asked about the discrepancy, Brainard said, “They don’t have money to get their roads paved.”
“It’s a ridiculously low salary for someone representing a city of that size,” he said. “It’s a billion-dollar business.”
If passed, the salary increase would make Brainard the highest paid mayor in the state.
Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson is currently the state’s highest paid mayor at $142,096.
“We don’t really look at Indiana when we do salary comparisons,” Brainard said. The mayor said the salary increase is necessary.
“It’s important to attract qualified people to run for office,” he said. “Many of the mayors we look at (for comparison) can make seven or eight times that in the private sector.”
,,,
Then leave office Mayor Brainard.  Contrary to your claim, there would be quality people lining up the door to take your place when you leave.  I get so sick of that ridiculous argument.  I hear it all the time from judges wanting to be paid more.  Like there is a shortage of excellent attorneys out there who who wouldn't jump at the chance to be a judge.

That is how a real citizen journalist reports the news Mr. Tully! At the end of his press release for Mayor Brainard Tully gives his contact information as follows: You can reach me at matthew.tully@indystar.com or at Twitter.com/matthewltully.

So if anyone feels like sharing their thoughts with Mr. Tully contact him via email or on Twitter. Piece of free advice for you all. Don't be surprised if Tully blocks you on Twitter, Facebook, or email if you dare to question his infinite wisdom! As many of our correspondents have discovered Tully is an incredibly thin skinned man! Like his TV counterpart Jim "Shill" Shella! he cannot handle the truth! Anything that is not flattering to him or his circle jerk club will be dismissed out of hand! As a favor to a longtime fan of the INDY REPUBLICAN blog. We have agreed to share this message from the reader to Tully himself (Warning! Contains profanity viewer discretion is advised):

Hoosier Lottery Contractor Finally Meets it's Goals after three years! Or More Pain for the Taxpayers from former Govenor Mitch "Little Man Hack" Daniels

In an article that appeared on the Indianapolis Business Journal's website in June. Hayleigh Colombo wrote how for the first time IGT Indiana (formerly GTECH Indiana) will meet its contractually obligated goals at managing the Indiana Lottery. Colombo goes onto say that it is "largely because the goals are lower than they used to be." In June 2015 the Hoosier Lottery Commission changed it's contract with IGT which reduced the revenue goals the company set when it originally bid to takeover management of the state lottery in 2012. As originally agreed IGT would have had to meet a revenue goal of $365 Million as opposed to the $270 Million target they have to reach now. We here at INDY REPUBLICAN are asking the question if IGT has not been able to meet their revenue targets from 2013 to 2015. And the company has had to keep making penalty payments to the state for the years they failed to meet the target. Why renegotiate the contract to make it easier for IGT to hit their target? Why not just fire them altogether? Remember folks when IGT signed the deal in 2012 to take over management of the Hoosier Lottery they agreed to make $365 Million in net income for the state or make penalty payments to the state. So one would think that IGT should have thought they were capable of making those original obligations. If IGT didn't think so then they should have either negotiated a better deal in 2012 or better yet not sign the contract at all! Isn't it interesting that this deal was inked during the time of Governor "Godfather" Mitch Daniels! Of course you won't hear or see any of the Indianapolis Press calling Mitch out on this! Like Matt Tully and the rest of the Circle Jerk Club they are to busy selling their souls to do their jobs! Let's all just keep ratcheting the pressure up until the Republicrat Establishment is smashed in Indianapolis!

Tim Swarens and Matt Tully's Puff Pieces for Mike Pence Show Why The Indianapolis Star Cannot be Saved!

The staff has decided to take a break from the Trump Veep Stakes Melodrama. Instead we wanted to take a hard look at how The Indianapolis Star's Propaganda Minister's Leading Political Writer's Tim Swarens and Matt "Ass Kisser" Tully spin report the news. Tim Swarens article in yesterday's Star "It's a win-win-win for Mike Pence". Timmy Boy is referring to all the media attention our fake conservative Governor Mike Pence has received as a result as his being considered a possible Vice Presidential candidate for Donald Trump. Swarens writes:

"One thing that seems certain is that Mike Pence will emerge as a political winner after his weeks-long flirtation with national prominence, regardless of whatever Trump announces in the next 48 hours."

Our initial reactions to this boneheaded statement are varied. Mostly we are wondering if Swarens is from Mars. Secondly, we hope the Star does not allow Timmy to handle any sharp objects! In what way is Pence going to emerge a winner?

Swarens goes onto say: "The fact that Pence is being pitched as the calm counterbalance to Trump--the adult in the room--also doesn't hurt his long-term prospects back home in Indiana and elsewhere."

With all due respect to Tim Swarens a charging rhino would appear more like an adult than Donald Trump! That is a very low hurdle to clear! Pence isn't exactly a saint for managing to act more mature than Donald Trump!

"I the governor is the pick and if Trump does win in November, then Pence naturally steps into the role of ambassador to Congress. Pence is only four years removed from 12 years on Capitol Hill, and he still has many friends in Congress, especially in the Republican caucuses."

So former US House Speaker Newt had more experience and connections in Congress then Pence did why not pick him instead?

Swarens predicts that if Mike Pence is picked to run with Trump and Trump loses that: "The governor still has a good chance to emerge as a winner, as long as Trump isn't trounced in a Walter Mondale-type landslide. In the wake of a Hillary Clinton victory, a bruised GOP establishment would be searching for ways to hold on to the new and disaffected voters that Trump has inspired. Pence could position himself, with Trump's blessing, as the bridge between the old Republican tribe and the new."

If Trump picks Pence and the ticket loses the Presidential Race this year. Both Trump and Pence's political careers are toast! The GOP after losing the White House to Hillary Clinton will run away from Trump. And if Pence is lucky he becomes an answer to a Trivial Pursuit question! Losing VP Candidates almost always fare worse than losing Presidential candidates do. Who remembers who Adlai Stevenson's running mates where in 1952 and 1956 when he ran against Eisenhower? Or how many people remember that Henry Cabot Lodge ran on the ticket with Nixon when he narrowly lost the White House in 1960? Yes it's true Mitt Romney's running mate Congressman Paul Ryan is the Speaker of the House but Ryan ran for both his House seat and VP at the same time and won his House race. If a Trump-Pence ticket loses Pence has no elected office to return to! His old congressional seat is held by another Republican, and he is not well placed to run for either the Senate in 2018 against Joe Donnelly or for Governor again!

"Finally," Swarens writes "if Trump ultimately says, "Sorry, Mike, but I love my Newt," then Pence is still a winner. He's likely helped himself in what's expected to be a close governor's race not only because of all the media attention but also because he was embraced by his party's popular in Indiana nominee before several thousand voters in Hamilton County."

If Trump does not pick Pence the Democrats will attack him relentlessly for trying to ditch his job as Governor to be Vice President!

"John Gregg, meanwhile, fades deeper into the shadows cast not only by Pence's dance in the spotlight but also Evan Bayh's sudden realization that he really does love serving in the U.S. Senate. (What does Poor John have to do to earn a bit of attention around here?)

"So no matter what thoughts about a running mate are ruminating in the mind of Donald Trump, Pence has likely helped himself considerably on the political front by agreeing to audition for a promotion."

"Count it as a rare win-win-win for Mike Pence. A sitting governor struggling to win re-election less than a month ago is on a political roll today."

John Gregg has been out campaigning endlessly for governor! He has been hitting the County Fairs and having frequent ads up. Yes he has received less coverage during the Pence and Bayh incidents this past week or so. But he has hardly been invisible!

For more salivating over Pence here is more mindless rubbish from Ass Kisser Matt Tully. Tully focuses more on Pence's potential as a VP candidate in contrast to Tim Swarens who just lavishes unwarranted praise on Mike Pence for being part of Trump's VP Audition.

Tully talks about Pence's Tuesday night speech in Westfield at a Donald Trump fundraiser. He quotes Pence as saying: "Donald Trump knows that we can make America great again," "Hillary Clinton must never become the president of the United States of America," "It would be extremely careless to elect Hillary Clinton."

What else did Tully think Pence was going to say about Hillary Clinton? It is not that different at all from what other Republicans like Newt Gingrich or Chris Christie have been saying about her! Why does this make Pence any more well suited to be VP than Gingrich or Christie?

Tully next quotes from Donald as saying "Who the hell knows?" Regarding Pence being his VP Choice. More from Tully's pen: "Pence certainly didn't hurt humself and he will be the guy if Trump is looking for a second banana who won't attempt to upstage him, who will seemingly do and say exactly as told, and whose calm demeanor will provide balance to a fiery ticket."

Who does Tully think could possibly be able to upstage Donald Trump at this time? If Houdini rose from the dead on national television tomorrow he wouldn't get as much attention as Trump has! It is highly doubtful that anybody thinks that whoever gets picked Donald's running mate is going to even come close to upstaging him!

"Can Pence perform in the role of running mate? It appears he can. Can he play the attack role of so many running mates past? Well, not as well as some for whom that comes naturally, but he can do it. Does he help the ticket? I'm not sure."

Earth to Tully: After Pence totally bungled the RFRA and Just In issues what is there to show that he would handle the national spotlight better? Especially since he will have reporters prodding him and poking him, and looking into his background unlike anything he has went through before!

" Pence is a key member of the religious and socially conservative political right."

True he was in the past. But Tully obviously has been in a coma for the last decade and has failed to notice religious and social conservatives irritation at Pence over his back tracking on RFRA, his support of Common Core Lite, etc. These issues will come out in a national campaign! The Democratic Party no doubt already has reams of opposition research they are willing to unload on Pence in order to cause the Trump ticket as much trouble as possible!

Tully's last observation that we wish to share with you is: "Funny thing is, even in the middle of Indiana, most of the Trump supporters I (Matt Tully) spoke with Tuesday night said they hoped Trump would pick as his running mate not their home state's governor but rather Gingrich the former Speaker of the U.S. House."

Again Tully if many Hoosier Republicans don't want Pence to run for VP why would the voters throughout the rest of the country see any reason to want Pence on the Trump ticket at all?

As all of you can see after going through all the silliness that passes for thoughtful writing at The Indianapolis Star. It is no surprise that the paper is losing readers and it is only a matter of time until it ceases to exist all together. If Dick Cady happens across this we only hope that he is happy that he is no longer employed by the useless rag his former employer has become!

UPDATE: According to various news reports Donald Trump is expected to announce tomorrow at 11 AM that Governor Mike Pence will be his running mate. WISH-TV has a story about that on it's website at this time click here. Also WISH-TV is reporting that earlier today that former Indiana Governor and current Purdue University President Mitch Daniels has issued a statement saying that he is not going to run for Governor if that job should become open you can read about that here.

The John Gregg for Governor Campaign also chimed in about Pence likely being picked to run for Vice President in a fundraising email sent out earlier this evening by the Gregg Campaign they had this to say:

"The headlines say Governor Pence is Trump's VP pick. But Trump's campaign refuses to confirm.
Either way, we need to be ready.
If Pence isn't chosen, it's up to us to end his time as governor. And if he is chosen, we need to show all potential challengers that we're more than ready to take them on.
These back-and-forth rumors are a distraction from what's really important: We must keep fighting to build a better future for Indiana.
Governor Pence may be in the headlines now, but by chipping in right away, you can make sure that the big news in Indiana is a John Gregg win in November.
Thanks,
Jeff Harris
Communications Director
Gregg for Governor"

INDY REPUBLICAN is still slightly skeptical of Pence having been picked as VP for Trump. Even though he has flown out to New Jersey where Trump is supposed to announce his running mate tomorrow. Trump through out the primaries and to this day has shown himself to be very unpredictable and this may all still be a publicity stunt of some kind. The Gregg campaign is wise to keep the focus on Indiana and the race for Governor. Even if Pence does run for VP it maybe near a month until the voters know who the new Republican Candidate for Governor will be. During that time Gregg can keep his name in the news, promote his plans as Governor and expand his volunteer base. We at the INDY REPUBLICAN news desk wouldn't be surprised if Gregg uses this time to keep building up his profile and Campaign infrastructure. Whoever the Republican Candidate for Governor turns out to be will have to get a state wide campaign up and running very quickly!

Democrats Pull Bait-and-Switch Baron Hill Out Evan Bayh in for US Senate!

Just when the staff at INDY REPUBLICAN thought politics in good old Indiana could not get any more bizarre. Word was sent to the staff by an avid fan of this blog to us about a little switcheroo that the Indiana Democratic Party has decided to pull. According to an article by Tom LoBianco at CNN.COM former Indiana Governor and former US Senator Evan Bayh has decided to grace the state with his wisdom and greatness and run for his old job as US Senator. According to LoBianco's article:

National Democratic leaders have encouraged Bayh to run for more than a year, ever since incumbent GOP Sen. Dan Coats announced he would not run again. Bayh was dismissive at first, insistent he was done with public life, but Monday's announcement will mark a significant victory for Senate Democratic recruiters.

LoBianco goes onto mention that the previous Democratic Party candidate for US Senate ex-congressman and old Hoosier Democratic Warhorse Baron Hill has announced that he is leaving the race for the Senate on Facebook this morning Hill said of his decision:

Also mentioned is this observation about Bayh's decision to run:

Readers of this blog may recall in our most recent post about the Mike Pence for VP Soap Opera about how we refrained from reading Matt Tully's propaganda piece Column in the Indianapolis Star because we felt no need to induce vomiting amongst ourselves! Well fortunately for good old ass kisser/hack reporter Matt Tully. The news of hearing of Evan Bayh's return to public life made us even more ill than that silly man ever could. So we decided to take a look and see what the latest round of establishment BS reporting Mr. Tully had to offer us about Saint Evan's return. Tully gushes over describes Bayh as: "the man who left politics in 2010 in deep frustration with partisan dysfunction." If that is not enough to make someone lose their lunch. Tully treats to another round of his cult worship of useless humans with this gem of insight: "On the Mount Rushmore of Indiana's modern-day politics, two politicians stand alone: Former Gov. Mitch Daniels and Evan Bayh. Put either name on a ballot, any ballot in Indiana, and you likely have an instant front-runner."

Fellow Blogger Paul Ogden wrote on his blog today about Bayh's abandoning his 2010 Senate Re Election bid and asked questions about Bayh and pointed out facts that the Indianapolis Lame Stream Media including Matt Tully's Circle Jerk Club will not about our state's newest Senate Candidate:

"At the time of his 2010 decision, Bayh said he was leaving because Congress was dysfunctional and he lost interest in serving:
After all these years, my passion for service to our fellow citizens is undiminished, but my desire to do so by serving in Congress has waned,  For some time, I've had a growing conviction that Congress is not operating as it should. There is much too much partisanship and not enough progress. ... Even at a time of enormous national challenge, the people's business is not getting done.
One has to wonder what Bayh saw about how Congress has operated in the last six years to cause him to have renewed faith in the institution.   Further, Evan Bayh does not even live in Indiana.  He is a Washington, D.C. lobbyist who lives in the Georgetown section of that city.  The Washington Business Journal published a story on the Bayh's purchase of a home four-bedroom home on N Street Northwest in March of 2015:
The former Democratic senator from Indiana, now a partner at the K Street office of McGuireWoods, said he would have been just as happy staying in Spring Valley. But with their two kids off to college, the big six-bedroom, Georgia-style brick home was more than the couple needed.
Susan Bayh, her husband said, "just liked the idea of being in the middle of things," including plenty of shopping options. After the sacrifices she made for his political career, the senator figured he could sacrifice for her by moving to Georgetown.
"It's really simple. We have twin sons who went off to college last fall, my wife really wanted to downsize, and we didn't need as much space," Bayh told me in a phone interview. "It's the age-old story. The wife wanted to move. The husband didn't. So we moved."
The couple, which celebrated their 30th anniversary last month, settled on an 1820 Federal that was completely renovated with modern amenities, an old-meets-new "best of both worlds" setup, Bayh said. The home is assessed at $1.4 million, according to the District, and initially hit the market through Washington Fine Properties at nearly $3.2 million. McEnearney Associates represented the Bayhs.
The constitutional requirement for Senate is only that a person running be a resident of the state at the time of the election. So Bayh could move back to Indiana to run for the Senate.  But the problem is that while clearly residing in Washington D.C. and working as a lobbyist in that city, Evan Bayh and his wife has for years (even after Bayh left the Senate) continued to vote in Indiana, claiming that a very modest downtown condo is the family's residence.  Former Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White was prosecuted successfully for a felony based on the allegation that he didn't live at the address he used for voting.  Yet more popular political figures like Democrat Bayh and former Senator Richard Lugar continue to do the exactly same thing without even the slightest concern of being prosecuted.

My guess is that many Democrats will be quite displeased with today's turn of events.  Hill's donors, who could now see their donations transferred to Evan Bayh for use on his campaign, also have an even more particular reason to be angry at these turn of events."

It is insightful of Paul Ogden to mention how many Democrats will not be pleased by Hill's decision to quit. Since the news broke this morning the INDY REPUBLICAN staff has been hearing of many angry Hill supporters who are extremely irritated at the eleventh hour move by Baron Hill to allow Evan Bayh to run in his place for Senate. Although at this blog we are mostly Republicans having had our share of ups and downs with various politicians throughout our combined 241.297 years of experience in the political arena. We can honestly say that we understand and share the frustration of people who thought they were helping out one candidate only to be gut kicked at the last second to help someone who is repulsive to them! Baron Hill should immediately refund all campaign contributions given to his US Senate Campaign! God knows Bayh doesn't need it! He has only been sitting on a $10 Million war chest forever! Paul Odgen also wrote back in 2010 about Bayh's sudden departure from the political scene.

Forgive us for being more than a little skeptical about the timing of all this. We have heard of suspension of disbelief but for the Indiana Democratic Party elites to ask us to believe that this is all a spur of the moment decision on Bayh's part to run for his old job. They are asking us to suspend insanity as well! We would much easier believe that the spirit of Frank O'Bannon appeared and told him to run than to buy this nonsense!

Paul Ogden also briefly mentions if Bayh even still lives in Indiana. If we are to use the standards applied to Charlie White than we would be compelled to say that Bayh in ineligible to be elected to the Senate from Indiana. But the laws that apply to us mere mortals do not apply to Evan Bayh or "Tricky Dick" Lugar! For an more in depth view of Evan Bayh's problems with Voter Residency we refer our readers to these two exceptional posts written by the master himself the Late Great Gary Welsh and to a Master's Thesis by Bayh's Former Campaign Manager Current Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogssett:

Will Trump Pick Mike Pence to be Vice President? Or how Mitch Daniels might worm his way back to being Governor!

Hello to all of you out there in cyberspace. The staff at Indy Republican wishes all of you out there a Happy Independence Day this coming Monday. Now that the pleasantries are out of the way let's get down to business. An alert reader of Indy Republican was gracious enough to pass on this little tidbit about Governor Mike "Pampered" Pence being under consideration to be running mate for presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump.  The article by NBC News states that Mike Pence is "in play" to be a possible VP pick for Donald Trump. Some readers of this blog may recall Pence's tepid endorsement of Ted Cruz for President back in the Indiana GOP Primary in May. A move that as Gary Welsh in what would be his next to last blog post said would do nothing but alienate even more Indiana Republican's who are already dissatisfied with Pence.

Sources have told the staff here that if Mike Pence is selected they believe that former RINO Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels might be put on the ticket as Governor since current Lt. Governor and former Indiana Republican Party Chairman Eric Holcomb couldn't win election against a trained Monkey! Holcomb was put on the ticket when his predecessor Democrat Sue Ellsperman decided to leave the ticket to become president of Ivy Tech State College. Holcomb was originally running poorly in the Senate GOP Primary and was on track to lose big. When all of a sudden he was offered the post as Lieutenant Governor in a move that has continued to anger many Conservative Hoosier Republicans including the Indy Republican News Desk. Real Hoosier Republicans like Gary Welsh and Paul Ogden also criticized the selection of Holcomb as LG. Gary Welsh went as far as to compare Mike Pence with former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich! Paul Ogden flawlessly pointed out the misgivings that many Hossiers should have about Holcomb. Also Indy Republican wrote about Holcomb in a previous blog post which mostly dealt with Mike Pence's betrayal of conservative principles.

Obviously we will not know for awhile yet if Pence is picked as Trump's running mate. It will be even longer before we will see if Mitch Daniels is put on the ticket in order to run for Governor again. But one thing we can all be certain of is that the Corrupt Indianapolis Talk Heads such as Jennifer Wagner, Jim "Shill" Shella and Matt Tully and his Circle Jerk Club will all ignore the obvious duplicity that such a thing would entail and would just praise the return of their beloved "Godfather" Governor Mitch Daniels! Why so many Indiana Republicans and Democrats worship Mitch Daniels is a mystery to many! There is are the issue's that occurred under him at the IURC, FSSA, the Hoosier Lottery, BMV, DWD, the Major Moves debacle, and also his living in Hamilton County instead of Marion as he was required by law to at under the Indiana Constitution! The best thing that can be done now is that all Hoosiers demand that Mike Pence answer straight out if he is indeed running for Governor this Fall or if he plans to jump ship and be part of the Trump ticket! Governor Pence needs to give the voters of Indiana a straight answer and he needs to do it yesterday! The clock is ticking Governor! What's it going to be try to keep your job as Governor or jump ship and try to be VP?

Note to readers: For further Information on the myriad of scandals and problems caused by Mitch Daniels and Mike Pence during their tenures in Indiana. Please consult both Gary Welsh's blog Advance Indiana, Paul Ogden's blog Ogden on Politics, The Charlie White Show, and last but not least Jon Easter's Blog Indy Democrat and his podcast series The Johnny Stir Show.

Update: Fellow Blogger Jon Easter has written about Mike Pence's possible selection as VP on his blog. We encourage all our readers to check it out!

WISH-TV'S News Directors Exit Continues the Decline of the Indianapolis Media

In an article on the Indianapolis Business Journals website yesterday. It's revealed that Elbert Tucker is leaving after less than a year into his time as the News Director for WISH-TV in Indianapolis. The article goes onto to say that Tucker is leaving to return to Tennessee to be closer to his family. It seems like the local news media in Indiana is only interested in having old line hack reporters like Jim "Shill" Shella on their payroll. And the Langley-Controlled Indianapolis Star has certainly declined considerably since they were sold to the Gannet Corporation in 1999. Instead of the Hard Nosed Reporting of Dick Cady we are now treated to Matt Tully and the garbage that his Circle Jerk Club would tell him as Gary Welsh used to say. Indy Republican is certain that the late great Gary Welsh is laughing from his grave at the continued decline of what remains of the mainstream media in Indiana. Click here for the link about Tuckers departure.
