Mike Pence Hit’s the Eject Button on his Presidential Campaign

Former Vice President Mike Pence

On Saturday in Las Vegas at the Republican Jewish Coalition gathering, former Indiana Governor and Vice President Mike Pence announced that he is quitting the race for the Republican presidential nomination. Adam Wren a favorite of ours wrote about Pence’s announcement for Politico:

With donations sagging, the former vice president, who often made self-deprecating remarks about his middle-class finances, had recently ponied up $150,000 of his own relatively small, newly-acquired fortune, amassed from a two-book deal and speaking fees, to prop up his campaign.

It wasn’t anywhere close to enough. For months, virtually no pollster or political prognosticator saw his campaign gaining traction in a GOP that prized id over ideology, presentation over pedigree.

Just a little less than two weeks before on October 15th, Wren had written an article about how Pence’s campaign was having financial troubles Wren had reported at the time that:

Mike Pence’s presidential campaign is running on fumes, reporting just $1.2 million cash on hand and more than $600,000 in debt.

The former vice president raised $3.3 million in the third quarter, he reported Sunday (October 15th). He has given himself $150,000 — a significant figure for a politician who has spent much of his life having never amassed much wealth, and one that far exceeds the less-than-six-figure salary he earned when he was Indiana governor less than a decade ago.

Given that Pence had failed to make much traction either in the polls and with fundraising we were not too surprised to hear that he decided to drop out of the race. We thought he would be either foolish enough or delusional enough to stay in until Iowa, obviously we were mistaken. It would appear that money and polling played a factor in Pence’s decision to quit, but we are fairly certain that he was pressured to do so. Probably by various GOP donors, officials, possibly close friends and family also helped make up his mind. Some of the Never Trump community expressed the belief that Pence’s inability to gain traction is a further sign of how badly the GOP has gotten under Donald Trump, and that Pence’s unwillingness to try to help Trump stay in office after losing the 2020 election doomed his chances.

We don’t deny there is some truth to that, but we don’t believe that was the primary reason his candidacy failed. His campaign went nowhere because Pence could not provide a rationale for why he should be President. He tried to say that the country needed to take a different direction than the one offered by Donald Trump, but at the same time kept saying how proud he was of the work he had done in the Trump-Pence administration. So if he was really proud of the work he had done in the Trump administration why was he running against Trump? Or if he wanted to offer an alternative to Trump why should voters pick him as opposed to one of the other candidates? Also having been Trump’s chief flunky as Vice President gave Anti-Trump Republicans no reason to trust Pence with being in the White House. Or as Reagan would have said Pence offered “Pale pastels instead of bold colors”. Meaning he failed to offer any significant distinction between himself and Trump.

Yes Pence did agree to certify the election results, but he had no legal choice but to do so, and he had spent the previous two months being evasive on what he would do. He tried to find ways to do what Trump wanted but failed. If Pence had just come out forcefully from the beginning and said clearly that he and Trump had lost a lot of what went on during January 6th could have been avoided. Instead Pence waffled and waited until the last possible minute before saying clearly that he was powerless to overturn the election results. Pence knew full well that he couldn’t change the results but he stupidly thought he could placate Trump, instead the Frankenstein monster he helped create almost got him killed.

If God forbid that Trump gets the nomination we would be shocked if Pence doesn’t immediately endorse Trump. So to our fellow Never Trumper’s don’t shed any tears over o Pence’s withdrawal from the race. The man made his deal with the devil and now he must reap the consequences of his actions.

Mike Pence’s Town Hall

Mike Pence

Mike Pence announced today that he is running for President. Apparently he is still delusional enough to think he is of Presidential timber. This evening he took part in a Town Hall on CNN hosted by Dana Bash.

He started by saying that he is running due to what he sees as the weaknesses of current President Joe Biden. He defended his actions on January 6th, 2021. He was asked if a vote for Trump is a vote against the Constitution, Pence refused to answer the question directly. Pence appeared to state that he would not pardon any January 6th defendants. Pence criticized the FBI for issuing the search warrant on Mar-a-Lago last year, Pence clearly has not either reviewed the circumstances of the warrant being issued or he is lying to try and score points with Trump supporters.

Pence was twisting himself in knots trying to argue that he supports the rule of law but doesn’t think that Trump should be indicted because of the divisions it would cause in the country. So far Pence is trying to be a Diet Coke version of Trump, similar taste but less filling. Much of the rest of the broadcast consisted of Pence giving standard talking points, and trying to avoid angering Trump voters to much. He kept trying to claim credit for what he thought the Trump administration, while at the same time arguing that Trump shouldn’t be president again.

In fairness to Pence though he did express strong support for Ukraine against Vladimir Putin. Although Pence overdid it by saying he he met Putin and told him things he didn’t want to hear. We are having a hard time believing that Pence stood up to Putin when for four years he just supported and enabled Donald Trump. For all the times where to our amazement that we didn’t find ourselves thinking that Pence is a total moron, what good Pence said should have been said years ago, when it would have made more of a dent into Donald Trump. As Christ said: “It is by their fruits that you shall know them.” Our observation has shown to us that the fruits of Mike Pence’s time as Vice President to Donald Trump have been not only bad, they have been poisonous fruits. It is for that reason among others that we can no more support a President Pence, just as we cannot support a Trump or DeSantis presidency. We as Christians do believe in redemption and we do not believe Pence is beyond the grace of God, but like all of us, Pence must “reap what he has sown.” Pence’s redemption will have to be found outside of elected office. His time in office has beefed weighed on the scales and found wanting.

So to Mike Pence we can only say: We truly wish you and your family long and happy lives. We want you to all do well, however your time as an elected official has passed and a new season in your life must begin.

Mike Pence’s Pathetic Quest for Power

Former Vice President Mike Pence

Recently former Vice President Mike Pence has been making the news, by endorsing candidates in republican primaries, other than the candidates endorsed and backed by his former lord and master President Donald Trump. Notable examples include Pence’s support of former Wisconsin Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, and his endorsement of Katrina Taylor Robson in Arizona. Kleefisch is running for Governor in Wisconsin and Robson is running in the Arizona GOP primary for the honor to lose to the Democratic candidate in the fall. These endorsements combined with Pence’s traveling back and forth to several early primary states, indicate that Pence is still delusional enough to think that he is of presidential timber.

This delusion of grandeur from which Pence suffers is no doubt encouraged by the fact that some view Pence as being heroic for refusing to help President Trump steal the 2020 presidential election. The incomparable Mona Charen over at the Bulwark has written a brilliant piece today “Mike Pence Sold his Soul for Nothing”. Mrs. Charen whom the Indy Republican team has had the pleasure of meeting, lays out the case that while Vice President Pence deserves credit for standing up to Trump on January 6th, 2022 that is all he deserves credit for.

We have on many occasions written about Pence’s character flaws, our friend the late great Gary Welsh compared Pence to Rod Blagojevich. Paul Ogden has also written about Pence’s shortcomings. But Mona Charen’s article really nails down the weaknesses of a man whom many of us here think of as the “Judas Of Politics”.

Below are some choice extracts from Mona Charen’s article, with our commentary in bold afterwards. We do highly recommend you all read her entire article here

Charen writes:

“You remember Mike Pence—he’s the guy who defeated a roomful of lickspittles to claim the obsequiousness grand prize at a 2017 cabinet meeting, praising the dear leader once every 12.5 seconds.”

“Pray for our opponents,” he told a (small) audience at a South Carolina church, “that their hearts would soften and their minds would open to the unimaginable beauty that is life.”

She goes onto outline Pence’s campaign for the presidency, but as she points out:

“There are a few flies in the ointment.” Referring to flaws in Pence’s plan to sit in the White House chair.

First problem. Now? Now is the moment that Pence rolls out the prayer? As Pence is well-situated to know, big chunks of the GOP base have become hungry for a very different tone. Christian charity is out. Vulgar insults, shameless lies, and secessionist hatred are in. It sure is ugly, but Pence is in no position to complain. It’s a revolution that Mike Pence did so much to encourage, and it’s bizarre that he seems to think he can carry on as if nothing has changed.”

Pence prostituted his reputation for Christian piety to the most vile figure in the history of American presidential politics, a man who modeled the opposite of every virtue taught in Sunday school. Pence lent his credibility as a religious man to a villain, and gave permission to millions of self-styled Christians to vote for him. Pence’s pious conscience was remarkably quiescent when Trump encouraged his followers to rough up hecklers”

We have pointed out Pence’s play acting as a Christian before also.

Second problem: Worse than simply remaining silent, he played the toady with seemingly endless reserves of self-mortification, uttering cringeworthy encomia to Trump’s “broad-shouldered leadership” (a phrase he repeated at least 17 times), and audacious lies about matters big and small.”

Pence’s silence and refusal to stand up to Trump has been a sticking point with us for years. Pence being Vice President couldn’t be fired by Trump but he still enabled everything he did.

“Third problem: It’s impossible to say how large a contingent of Republican primary voters are in the “Pence is a Traitor” camp, but consider that a recent New York Times/Sienna poll found that only 6 percent of Republicans would vote for Pence in a 2024 primary. At their dueling campaign appearances in Arizona, Trump assembled a rally attended by thousands while Pence spoke to a crowd estimated at 300.”

Charen does point out and we agree with her that there is a demand among some republicans for someone other than Trump. But Pence is not that candidate. Trumpets don’t want him because he is considered at best a wimp, and at worst a traitor. Never Trumper’s don’t support him because he has no principles and like Judas sold out for his 30 pieces of silver.

Like Mona Charen we do give Pence credit for his actions on January 6th, but his refusal to outright condemn Trump, his continuing defense of Trump’s conduct as president, and his unwillingness to call Trump out even now. Has forfeited any claim to hold an office of trust of any kind in America. We cannot recommend Charen’s article highly enough, nor can we oppose Pence enough for his humoring of the blasphemous Trump.

UPDATE: A reader just alerted us to an excellent observation made by Miles Taylor a former Trump administration official made about Mike Pence recently. Another reader alerted us to the fact we accidentally said Robson was running for the Senate in Arizona, she is actually running for Governor. Please watch and listen to Miles Taylor’s take on Pence’s time as Vice President:

Is Mike Pence Not Coming Back Home to Indiana? w/Update

Vice President Mike Pence and The Fly

We just received news that saddens us greatly, Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen have decided not to stop off in Indiana to cast their votes as originally planned.

Chris Sikich over at the Indianapolis Star has the story:

Vice President Mike Pence has canceled his Friday appearance in Indianapolis, where he planned to vote at the Indianapolis City-County Building.

His office did not provide an explanation when asked why. His office said the trip would be rescheduled soon.

He and his wife, Karen Pence, each tested negative for COVID-19 Thursday, according to his office.

"Nobody's sick. There's no positive tests," Pence spokesman Devin O'Malley said. "The VP is planning on travelling on Saturday and Monday. We'll have more information on the vice president's schedule next week soon."

WISH-TV’s Dan Klein has a little more information on the Pence’s change of plan’s:

An adviser to Pence said the reason was not health-related.

Marty Obst, senior political adviser for Pence, explained the cancellation in an email to News 8’s Demie Johnson: “It was merely a scheduling issue and definitely not health related. We are going to be in Florida Saturday, Ohio Monday, and Wisconsin Tuesday. Will be sure to reach out in advance or our next trip to Indiana.”

IR and the Gang were already suspicious about Pence’s canceling his plans to comeback and vote on Friday. Marty Obst’s statement that the schedule change is not health related leads us to believe that either the reason for the cancellation is A.) Health related, either due to the President and/or the Pence’s health. Or B.) Pence reasonably for see’s a need to be somewhere else on Friday but cannot or will not say why. We have written about Marty Obst’s shady ways before, so we will not go into detail here. But something is not right with this situation. If anyone hears anything about what is going on let us know in the comments, if you don’t want your comments published just say so and we will keep it confidential.

We also thought we would bring up as we and others have before the issue of Pence’s casting ballots from the Governor’s Mansion even though he hasn’t lived there since 2017. We have more information about that in a previous post from 2018, feel free to read that for more information. We thank all of you for your support and remember be safe and be excellent to each other!

UPDATE: Musician Jay Diggs has just released a hilarious song about Mike Pence called “I Have A Fly On You”.

ENJOY!

Indy Republican’s View of the Vice Presidential Debate

Senator Kamala Harris and Vice President Mike Pence

Last night Senator Kamala Harris and Vice President Mike Pence, met in Salt Lake City, Utah for their first and only Vice Presidential debate. Unlike last week we decided to spare ourselves the pain of live blogging the debate. Instead we thought we would watch it after the debate occurred and give our impressions of it. The debate opened with a question to Senator Harris asking what a Biden administration would do differently about COVID than what the Trump administration has.

Senator Harris started by outlining her criticisms of the Trump administration’s handling of the virus. She argued  that Trump didn’t adequately prepare for the virus, and that a Biden administration would do better contact tracing and distributing the vaccine when it arrives.

Pence responded largely with his usual kissing of Trump’s ass, taking shots at the Biden campaign. Pence was asked about his presence at the White House Rose Garden “Super Spreader” event a week and a half ago. And how when they didn’t follow their own safety guidelines how can they expect the public to do so. Pence tap danced around the question and said he and Trump respect the American people to do what is best.

Throughout the debate Pence proceeded to interrupt Harris and the moderator and seemed to get testy at times. The next topic discussed was how both candidates see the role of the Vice President, especially in regards to how to handle if the President becomes disabled. Pence started out by trying to dodge the topic by attempting to circle back on the subject of the administration’s handling of the coronavirus. Harris also dodged the question of how they saw the role of being Vice President.

We would go on to review the debate but it was just a snooze fest and won’t mean a damn thing. The high point of the debate was the fly that landed on Pence’s head:

We have reached out to the fly’s press staff to request an interview. We will let you know if we hear anything back.

The Unending Hypocrisy of Mike Pence

We have written many posts attacking Mike Pence. So we thought we would put out another one. Last night in his continuing display of worship of his golden calf. Mike Pence  went out to try to convince all of us how awesome Trump is, and why we would all be fools not to re elect him. It’s so pathetic to see Pence continuing to kiss Trump’s feet. The only upside is that it does actually expose Pence as the fraud he has always been. We would actually love for both Trump and Biden to lose, but at this rate we would almost settle for seeing Pence no longer in office. Here’s a really great ad exposing Pence for the hypocrite he is:

Is Mike Pence Gay?

Our apologies for the lack of posts these past few weeks, everything has been so hectic! Before we return to our regularly scheduled programming we thought we would in a mildly serious way look into a weird video of Vice President Mike Pence that is floating around the internet.

Just this afternoon an alert reader of Indy Republican sent all of us a video circulating on line that shows Vice President Mike Pence looking creepily at his master President Donald Trump. Gay comedian Marie Connor had some funny commentary on the funny but creepy way that Mike Pence is fawning over Donald Trump:
Personally all of us here at IR don’t care what the Vice President likes to shove up his ass. That being said however it would be kind of funny, and not to surprising to find that old Mikey is gay. The reason we are not sure is because we aren’t entirely sure that Mike Pence is actually a man. We are half tempted to ask Ann Coulter if he knows whether or not Pence is a man. Time will tell if Pence is hiding the truth about who he is.

On Twitter someone put up this photo of Pence in a Village People type cowboy outfit. In fairness we don’t know if this image is real or doctored. But it’s just to amusing not to put up:

UPDATE: A reader sent us a clearer picture of Pence’s taste in western wear:

Donors to Mike Pence’s Legal Defense Fund Revealed. Also, Where Does Mike Pence Live?

Finally after three years of nail biting suspense, we finally know the identities of some of the people who helped pay Vice President Pence’s legal fees. Veteran readers of this blog might recall we wrote about Pence’s legal defense fund back in 2017. Thanks to USA Today writer Maureen Groppe we now have some answers. Needless to say there are some interesting characters to say the least backing old Mickey.

Maureen Groppe wrote on June 30, 2020 in an article going into more detail about Pence’s legal donors:

Vice President Mike Pence received nearly $500,000 from a dozen contributors to pay his legal bills from special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, according to his annual financial disclosure report that was released Tuesday (June 29, 2020).

The biggest backers were Indiana Pacers owner Herb Simon and the California couple Michael Hayde and Laura Khouri who develop and manage apartment complexes. They each gave $100,000.

Other contributors include Pence's political adviser Marty Obst; national GOP fundraiser Ronald Weiser of Michigan; Florida real estate investor Leo Wells; Indiana businessmen Lawrence “Sonny” Beck, Paul Thrift and Tony Moravec; and Georgia businessman Brian McPheely, head of the country’s fifth largest corrugated packaging company.

The legal defense fund was created in December 2018 by Jim Atterholt, who served as Pence's chief of staff when he was Indiana's governor.

Pence hired an attorney, former U.S. Attorney Richard Cullen, after Mueller was appointed in 2017. But he was not billed until the end of Mueller's investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election.

Expenses were paid last June and the fund was terminated in August, according to the disclosure report.

Atterholt previously told USA TODAY that he volunteered to start the fund because he doesn't believe legal bills should be the cost of public service.

Some of the names of Pence’s backers certainly have our interest peaked. A point of interest about Richard Cullen, Pence’s attorney. Is that Cullen is an old friend, coworker and godfather to one of former FBI Director James Comey’s daughters. And McGuire Woods the law firm Cullen works for is also where former Indiana Governor and Senator Evan Bayh works. For whatever reason Pence wanted a heavy hitter to represent him.

Back to some of the donors. We find it interesting that former State Representative, Indiana Department of Insurance (IDOI) Commissioner, Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission Director, and Chief of Staff to Governor Pence Jim Atterholt created Pence’s legal defense fund. Atterholt is quoted as saying he created the fund for Pence “because he doesn't believe legal bills should be the cost of public service.” That’s a side splitter Jim! You sure as hell were not concerned with legal bills when you forced out Paul Ogden at the Department of Insurance back in 2006.

Readers of INDY REPUBLICAN, Ogden on Politics, and the late Gary Welsh’s Advance Indiana blog, know that Atterholt is not the most ethical guy in politics. Gary Welsh and Paul Ogden have documented here and here Atterholt’s dubious conduct as head of the Department of Insurance, the head of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, and as Governor Pence’s Chief of Staff. There is an especially good post Paul Ogden did on Atterholt detailing Atterholt’s too cozy relationships with lobbyists and his willingness to commit perjury. When Pence named Atterholt to be his Chief of Staff that was an indication to all of us as to how useless he is as a public servant.

Although Pence has never been charged with any criminal conduct to our knowledge, he does act as if he is hiding something. We cannot think of any other reason he would hire such a high powered lawyer to represent him. Also even though Pence has been Vice President since 2017, he still has cast ballots using the address of the Governor’s Mansion, where even he admitted he moved out of in 2017  He even tweeted his moving pictures:

A recent article by Elizabeth Dye for “Above the Law” had this to say about the Pence’s use of the Governor’s mansion for voting:

“Does Governor Holcomb forward the Second Lady her Taste of Home and Good Housekeepingmagazines? Will Vice President and Mother Pence be bedding down in the governor’s mansion if voters see fit to evict them from Number One Observatory Circle in November? Will the Pences ever again pay their own electric bill, as they dutifully strive to cut the safety net out from under poor Americans?

So many questions! But apparently using their old taxpayer-funded digs, to which the Pences have no intention of returning, as their Indiana residence is perfectly legal.“

This raises some interesting questions especially since former Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White was convicted of voter fraud, all because he allegedly voted in the wrong precinct one time in his whole life. Pence and his wife apparently are allowed to vote using an address they no longer live at. Even if one buys the claim that Pence is allowed to vote from the Governor’s mansion due to his serving as Vice President, how does that extend to his wife Karen, who is not in elected office? Somebody should ask Governor Eric Holcomb if he knowingly allows the Pence’s to vote from his residence? And if so why, and also why should the Pence’s get away with blatantly flouting election law when Charlie White was shafted by Holcomb and Mitch Daniels? Do you have something to say Eric? Mike? Karen? Trump would be well advised to drop kick Pence’s ass off the ticket, otherwise the Democrats WILL go after Pence with a vengeance and help to sink Donald even further.

Let’s all just pray that for the devils bargain that Pence has made, that he is dropped from the ticket and must pay for his sins!

Mike Pence Made a Deal with the Devil, and the Devil Won

Earlier today our good friend that lovable gadfly Paul Ogden wrote a great, great post about how Indianapolis gambled taxpayers money on the past and we all got hosed. By a remarkable coincidence this post spurned us on to right about another exercise in gambling stupidity. As our readers are well aware INDY REPUBLICAN like the late great Gary Welsh, loathes and despises the milquetoast, obsequious, toady that is Vice President Mike Pence. Unlike some in the Never Trump band of conservatives and republicans, we are as much Never Pence as we are Never Trump. Whether it’s old Mikey being less than honest on his voter registration, using his political pull to get his less than qualified nephew John Pence a cushy political job, or putting on his best imitation of a Christian. Vice President Mike Pence has never failed to exceed our already low expectations of his worthless butt.

Back on April 15th, 2020 Adam Wren a writer for Politico and Indianapolis Monthly wrote “Four Years Ago, Mike Pence Hated Presidential Overeach”. When recounts how Mike Pence looked uncomfortable at President Trump’s April 13th, 2020, when the President said that his authority was “total”.

Wren reports Pence’s response to his master Trump’s proclamation of supreme power. According to Wren, Pence said:

“Make no mistake about it,” a stone-faced Pence replied. “In the long history of this country, the authority of this country, the authority of the president of the United States during national emergencies is unquestionably plenary.”

There’s a governor who spent his time in office arguing exactly the opposite: that the states had the right to refuse Washington’s dictates, that state autonomy was a constitutional bulwark against overarching presidential power. His name was Mike Pence.

Wren makes reference to a 2011 Washington Times Op-Ed then Congressman Mike Pence wrote, defending states against the overeach of federal power. Here are a few excerpts from that op-ed, back when Pence still pretended to be a conservative:

To ensure a lasting victory for limited government, it will not be enough simply to cut government spending. We must permanently reduce the size and scope of the federal government by restoring to the states and the people those responsibilities and resources that are rightfully theirs under the Constitution of the United States.”

“In 1982, Mr. Reagan came to Indiana to address the issue of federalism before a joint session of our state General Assembly. He used that Hoosier setting as a backdrop to announce a new presidential commission on federalism, which he called the “new phase” of the “great American experiment.” As a start, he offered to return 40 federal programs and the revenues associated with them back to the states. The commission and its work fell flat, but Mr. Reagan was right 30 years ago, and he is more right today.

Sounds light years away from his role serving in and defending an administration that has worked to undermine Congress’s oversight of the federal governmentpushed for taxpayer bailout of private businesses, and has sought to bailout American farmers after his insane tariffs have damaged them. While we believe that it is true that Pence sold his soul to Trump in the hopes of becoming president. We happen to believe that his so called Christian faith, and belief in limited government have long been a fraud that Pence has peddled in his quest for significance. In congress Pence never passed anything of any importance. It’s true he now and then pretended to support government whistleblowers. But as a congressman, governor, and now Vice President he has done less than nothing to protect whistleblowers.

Some have attempted to defend Pence by saying he has pushed behind the scenes to reign in Trump, or that he has no choice but to obey Trump. Our response to this is “Bullshit”! The belief that Pence has tried in ANY way at all to undermine Trump, is as flimsy as the evidence for Scientology’s belief in invisible space aliens infesting our bodies. Or in other words there is NO proof of either, because like Scientology’s body thetans, the legend of Pence having a spine is a complete fabrication. As to the argument that Pence has to do as he is told by Trump. Let’s quote from the Constitution that Pence swore on a Bible to uphold:

Article I, Section III, Clause I: The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.

That is pretty much all the Constitution says about the Vice President. He cannot be fired by Trump. At the very least he could take stands against the President when he oversteps his bounds. Sure Trump would rage tweet at him, and he may not get elected to another office. But he will get a government pension, and any TRUE Christian would stand against the blasphemies uttered by the mouth of Donald Trump.

For a more in depth view of Pence selling his soul, checkout yesterday’s episode of Joe Walsh’s podcast “Fuck Silence”:

Dull Lifeless VP Mike Pence Coming to Indiana to Fire Up The GOP

In news that we have filled away under the heading “Things That Induce Vomiting”. Two useless and annoying Vice President’s are coming to Indiana to fire up their respective party bases. The worthless twits Mike Pence and Joe Biden have decided to grace us Hoosiers with there presence. Because Milquetoast Mike and “Crazy Uncle” Joe Biden think we Hoosiers are to dumb to make up our own minds with out the benefit of their infinite wisdom. Joe and Mike have come here to a state that Mikey pretends to live in, and Joe Biden pretends to give a damn about. Mike and Joe are each campaigning for Mike Braun and Joe Donnelly for the US Senate respectively.

That coupled with the fact that as a state legislator Braun a so called fiscal conservative has repeatedly voted for tax hikes, higher user fees, supported Governor Holcomb’s “War on Truckers”. And for decades voted in Democratic primaries. Helps to show how there is no discernible difference between Braun and Donnelly. We at IR personally hope both Braun and Donnelly lose! Seriously If you want us to vote give us candidates!

Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen’s Legal Problems give President Trump a Migraine, Trump as the client from Hell, Star Wars Stuff and a Little more from IR and the Gang

Over the past few days the news has been a tornado of near biblical proportions. With the conviction of President Trump’s one time campaign manager and communist tool Paul Manafort on eight felony charges, not to mention the plea deal copped by President Trump’s former fixer/lawyer Michael Cohen. The news has been a whirlwind at best. We will briefly cover the Manafort/Cohen Shit Show, and then show a video that will finally give some vindication to the architect of the Death Star. We are working on several posts involving state and local government shenanigans. But with only so many hours in the day and with Donald Trump stealing all our oxygen we need to unwind.

First thing is first about commie bastard Paul Manafort’s legal troubles. NBC News has the following information on Manafort’s recent trial reported by Ken Dilanian:

A federal jury in Virginia convicted Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman, on eight felony counts on Tuesday, but the judge declared a mistrial on the 10 other charges he faced.

Manafort, a fixture in Republican politics for decades, was convicted of five counts of tax fraud, one count of failure to file a report of foreign bank and financial accounts and two counts of bank fraud. A mistrial was declared in three counts of failing to file reports of foreign bank and financial accounts, and seven counts of bank fraud and bank fraud conspiracy.

Prosecutors built a case that Manafort for years hid millions from U.S. tax authorities in overseas accounts, spending the money to maintain a lavish lifestyle and lying to banks to generate more cash.

Of particular interest to us in Mr. Dilanian’s story is this little tidbit:

Manafort also played a role in an effort to soften a plank in the Republican Party platform calling for lethal aid to Ukrainians fighting the Russian invasion of their country.

In addition to attempting to soften our parties platform regarding opposition to Vladimir Putin. Manafort’s role in securing the Vice Presidential nomination for Mike Pence also put Manafort on our crap list. INDY REPUBLICAN would love to move onto the good stuff right now, but we did promise to delve into the Michael Cohen debacle so here we go.

Earlier this week Donald Trump’s former consigliere Michael Cohen struck a plea deal with prosecutors which may and we emphasize may be a problem for Trump. Fox News has more on this story:

Michael Cohen, President Trump’s longtime personal attorney, admitted Tuesday to violating federal campaign finance laws by arranging hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal “at the direction” of then-candidate Trump.

In entering the plea, Cohen did not specifically name the two women or even Trump, recounting instead that he worked with an “unnamed candidate.” But the amounts and the dates all lined up with the payments made to Daniels and McDougal.

In total, Cohen pleaded guilty to five counts of tax evasion, one count of making false statements to a financial institution, one count of willfully causing an unlawful corporate contribution, and one count of making an excessive campaign contribution.

Cohen could have received up to 65 years in prison if convicted of all charges. However, as part of his plea deal, Cohen agreed not to challenge any sentence between 46 and 63 months.

All we can say is that Cohen must have offered a pretty big carrot to the prosecution to get his sentence knocked down from 65 years to at most 5 years in prison. We will have to wait and see what if anything comes out of this plea deal.

As to be expected Trump took to Twitter and offered his two cents on Manafort and Cohen’s plight:

Mister President as a little bit of advice tweets like this do not in anyway aid your case. By applauding Manafort for refusing to “break” you give the impression that you are scared about something Manafort knows or claims to know. Manafort didn’t work for you for very long so it is reasonable to ask why you are sticking with him so much. Sometimes Trump supporters Ben Shapiro and Michael Medved had this to say about Trump:

Sorry to have to do this but in the 45 minutes or so since we started composing this post apparently another round of potentially bad news has broken for President Trump. The incomparable Ben Shapiro over at Daily Wire has reported that the CEO of the National Enquirer David Pecker has been offered immunity to give testimony regarding Michael Cohen’s giving hush money payments to Trump mistresses Stormy Daniels and Karen MacDougal. Click here to read Shapiro’s article.

Now onto something more interesting. As die hard Star Wars fans the IR gang have long given the designers of the Death Star crap over their design of the battle station. But while pursuing the web not long ago we happened across a video made by the designer of the Death Star which has led us all to believe that we may have been to harsh on them. We will post the video below and let you all decide. Here it is enjoy:

Rhode Island Income Tax Disclosure Bill Could Cause Trouble for Trump and Pence in 2020

The Associated Press is reporting that if a bill that is under consideration in the Rhode Island Legislature becomes law President Trump might be denied ballot access if he runs for re-election in 2020.

The AP reports:

AP/WPRI - The Rhode Island Senate has passed a bill that would require presidential and vice presidential candidates to file five years' worth of tax returns in order to appear on the state's ballots.

The Senate voted 33-3 to pass the measure. A House version has been held in a committee.

Senate spokesman Greg Pare says if the bill becomes law, President Donald Trump wouldn't appear on a future ballot unless he filed his returns.

Democratic Sen. Gayle Goldin, who sponsored the bill, did not explicitly mention Trump in vouching for the policy on the Senate floor. She did say that "this president" was the first since Richard Nixon to not voluntarily release his tax returns.

Goldin says the tax returns contain essential information about conflicts of interest that is not otherwise available to the public.

INDY REPUBLICAN did not think this would happen but we actually for once agree with a Rhode Island Democrat! This shocks us so much we can hardly finish our beer. But State Senator Gayle Goldin is absolutely right in insisting that presidential and vice presidential candidates disclose their tax returns.

If laws like this wind up passing in more states they could cause issues for Vice President Pence. As we have pointed out on this blog previously here and here  Pence stated on his 2011 tax return that he and his wife Karen lived in Arlington, VA even though state law in Indiana requires him to have lived in Indiana for the five years preceding the 2012 election. So Pence should have been deemed ineligible to run for Governor in 2012, just like Evan Bayh should have been disqualified from running for Governor in 1988.

Other issues that Pence may or should at least face if he runs for VP again or for President involves his having cast an absentee ballot in this years primary from the Governors Mansion even though he is no longer Governor. Take a look at what old Mikey tweeted as he was leaving Indiana to become Trumps Biatch Vice President:

Needless to say Pence’s casting a ballot from the Governors Mansion elicited some interesting commentary. Here are some of our favorites:

Also our mailbag had some interesting things to say about Mike Pence’s squatting at the Governors Mansion:

“WTF? He is no longer Governor? Does he intend to reside with Holcomb? Is he filing his taxes, getting his mail over there too. Can Daniels still vote form the mansion too? Haha. The VP of the US can’t get an outhouse somewhere to vote from? Did Bush try to vote from the Texas governors mansion?”

“So does Mike Pence “return” to the govs mansion whenever he wants when he comes to Indiana...it’s a real good idea that you actually have ACCESS to the residence you are voting from.”

“He also said while he filed taxes from his DC residence address as he filed as a “resident” of fishers to enroll his daughter at HSE when he “lived” at the unreported free house that he can continue to vote in Columbus where he didn’t “live” bc of his intent and the fishers house was for the “convenience of his family” what a bunch of crap!”

Other opinions of Pence from our readers include the following:

How long would Pence survive in a Star Trek episode?

“About as long as it takes for ensign Johnson to be turned into a styrofoam cube after beaming down to the surface and making a half ass attempt at protecting the captain.”

Are critics off base to say that Mike Pence’s gene pool needs a filter?

“Yes. It needs enhancement..not filtering ..they’re missing chromosomes! He’s missing the dna which gives someone balls & a backbone...but also the chromosome that allows one to read, write and snap out of a blissful state of sleep”

So you all next time. Have fun fellow Troublemakers!

$10,000 Buys You and Your Significant Other a Picture with Mike Pence

Last September we blogged about Vice President Pence’s habit of whoring himself out to fundraise for any mediocrity running with an “R” after there names  Back in May the Indianapolis Star reported on more of Pence’s pandering to the establishment GOP by charging couples $10,000 to have there picture taken with him.

Maureen Groppe and Ginger Rough wrote:

Want to cozy up to Vice President Mike Pence when he's in Indiana Friday?

Well, as they say, that's gonna cost you.

The goal of the event?

To raise serious cash — more than $500,000 — for a trio of Republican U.S. Senate hopefuls: Mike Braun of Indiana, Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley and Ohio Congressman Jim Renacci.

Minimum buy-in? $2,700 per couple. And, basically, that just gets you in the door.

If you want to be where the real action is, you need to cough up even more dough.

Tier Two is know as the "Host Committee" level. That's a cool $10,000 per couple. And that will get you one photo with Pence and two attendees at the reception.

If you've really got extra cash to throw around, you can buy in at the highest level: the "Chairman Committee Roundtable." For a mere $25,000, you get one attendee at a roundtable discussion, one photo with Pence and four attendees at the reception.

$10,000 to have you and your dates picture taken with Mike Pence? No thanks. We wouldn’t pay a penny to have our picture taken with idiot boy Mikey!

President Trump slaps Mike Pence and We Love It!

Hapless Mike Pence

This is a very first for IR We are about to say something positive about President Donald Trump. As we have made abundantly clear the IR gang are not supporters of Donald Trump. But we hate several other republicans far more such as Todd Hoekita Rokita, Mitch Daniels, Eric Holcomb, and especially the weak willed spineless jellyfish masquerading as a man, Mike Pence. But tonight President Trump laid the smack down and showed Mikey who was boss. Earlier tonight Jonathan Swan over at Axios reported that President Trump wanted to prevent Vice President Pence from picking Jon Lerner to be Pence's National Security advisor. As Mr. Swan reported earlier:

the President nearly blocked the Vice President from getting his chosen national security adviser. It's a highly unusual event, as Trump typically gives Pence a long leash on personnel appointments. This is the first time the President has tried to block Pence from filling a senior staff position. The scene also highlights — once again — the extraordinary importance Trump places on personal loyalty. Trump was furious when he learned Pence was bringing on Nikki Haley's deputy Jon Lerner, according to three sources familiar with the events. The President believed Lerner was a card-carrying member of the "Never Trump" movement because Lerner crafted brutal attack ads for Club for Growth's multimillion-dollar anti-Trump blitz during the Republican primaries.

According to a source familiar with the deliberations, Lerner, who currently serves as UN Secretary Nikki Haley's deputy, sought to avoid drama: "Jon does not want to be a distraction. He’s done incredible work with Nikki Haley and it’s important to our country that this work continues."
The official word, from Pence's press secretary Alyssa Farah: “Tonight Jon informed the Vice President that he was withdrawing from coming on board as national security advisor. Vice President Pence holds Jon Lerner in the highest regard and expressed his deep gratitude for Jon’s willingness to consider joining our team.”

What we find so interesting is if Pence really wanted to hire Lerner onto his staff that decision is his to make, not the President's. The reason why Lerner withdrew from joining Pence's staff is because Lerner knows that Pence has no spine. And if given the choice between working for Mike Pence or Ambassador Nikki Haley he would naturally pick Halley. Since she has more balls than Pence. Now some of our fellow anti-Trump Republicans would feel the need to criticize Trump for interfering in Pence's hiring decisions. But we are actually ecstatic that Trump slapped Pence down to show him just how puny Pence really is. So to President Trump we say "Well done Mister President"! It's about time somebody verbally beat down Pence.
