Mark Driscoll: Modern Day Judas Iscariot

Fake Pastor Mark Driscoll

We had not planned on writing a post today, but the outrageous and blasphemous utterances of so called Pastor Mark Driscoll have compelled us to point out this man’s betrayal of the gospel.

Earlier today on Twitter (we refuse to call it X), Driscoll do proceed to make the following insane statement about Russian dictator Vladimir Putin:

Driscoll is either completely delusional or he is lying when he utters these statements. Given his past conduct as a pastor at Mars Hill we are inclined to think he is just another lowlife that has sold his soul for temporal power. Reading his words reminds us of when our Lord Jesus said this:

Matthew 15:8-9:

8 These people draw near to me with their mouth,
And honor me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.

9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.

The fact that a supposed man of God like Driscoll could say such things about the communist dictator Putin is reason enough to reject him completely! As Christian’s we can think of nothing more disgusting and heretical that could be uttered from the pulpit than those spoken by Driscoll.

To paraphrase the late, great Barry Goldwater: “I think every good Christian ought to kick Mark Driscoll’s ass!”

Erick Erickson Keeps Running Towards Gomorrah

Erickson's tirade occurred in July. But we felt it important enough to blog about. In order to draw more attention to the moral, spiritual and intellectual bankruptcy of today's fake conservatives and Christians like Erick Erickson. Just when we thought Erick Erickson couldn’t stoop any lower in his never ending quest to be the propaganda minister of The Fellowship of The Pharisees. He continues to exceed our increasingly low expectations of him. Back in July Mad Little Erick went on two more of his LSD induced twitter tirades that he has become increasingly known for. First he decided to out of nowhere deride South Bend Mayor and Democratic Presidential Candidate Pete Buttigieg’s understanding of Christianity:

This prompted the following response from a reader of Erickson’s and a disastrous response from Erickson:

We also found an interesting reply to Erickson calling him out for criticizing Mayor Pete’s lifestyle choices by contrasting them with Donald Trump’s:

Not to be outdone Erickson then proceeded to try to claim that Trump is more moral than Pete Buttigieg because Trump honestly refuses to repent of his sexual sins. And Buttigieg won’t repent of being gay:

This pitiful attempt at excusing the many moral failings shows Erickson has become a moral relativist. Erickson is childishly arguing that because Trump won’t lecture people about his unrepentant that means he gets a free pass on everything. It is possible that by the time this piece hit's the blog. That Erickson will have deleted many of these insane tweets. Erickson does not have the manliness of spirit to own up to his blunders and foibles. We just couldn't let Erick's drivel go unanswered. For a comprehensive takedown of Erickson's betrayal of conservatism. Read the following article by the very gifted and talented David Leach of "The Strident Conservative" fame. Also for a theological critique of our fellow Christians who have committed the apostacy of worshiping Trump and throwing away Jesus Christ, read Ben Howe's book "The Immoral Majority".

UPDATE: As we had previously speculated Erickson has since deleted his earlier tweets. For God’s sake Erick grow a pair!

County GOP in Missouri Engages In Trump Cult Worship

Christian County Defiles Christianity, Abe Lincoln & the Republican Party
What a way to start off a work week. In another sign of The SATANIC takeover of much of our Grand Old Party. Word has come to us that the Christian County Republican Party has chosen to go down the blasphemous road and has changed their fundraising dinners to the Lincoln/Trump Day Dinner. Instead of keeping the more honorable century old tradition of Lincoln Day Dinners. Named in honor of one of our greatest presidents and the first man to win the presidency on the GOP ticket. After all Lincoln only helped to end slavery and restore the United States. That’s nothing compared to President Trump surviving his own personal Vietnam of avoiding STD’s! This action by the Christian (And we use that word loosely) County GOP as bad as it is, is but one of two reprehensible actions taken by these big government, socialist creeeps masquerading as conservatives. The Hill reported today that a United States Senator’s adhering to their oath of office is secondary to worshiping at the altar of Trump. The Hill reported:

A Missouri county GOP committee disinvited Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) to a dinner event next month, citing his recent vote against President Trump’s emergency declaration to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

“I am so disappointed in you now that I can hardly speak,” Wanda Martens, the party committee’s events chairwoman, wrote in an email to Blunt’s office obtained by The Kansas City Star. “Why could you not support my president in the emergency declaration? President Trump tried every available means to work the Senate to resolve the border issue and build the much needed wall. He is well within his presidential powers to do this.”

Blunt, the fourth-ranking Republican in the Senate, was the only member of GOP leadership to vote for the resolution of disapproval that would block Trump's emergency declaration. The president vetoed the resolution Friday.

The Missouri Republican cited the separation of powers to justify his vote in a radio interview last week.

“The last power really left to Congress is the power to control appropriations, the power of the purse, which anybody’s ever looked at the constitution has heard that phrase over and over again," he told KCMO. “And I think it’s an important phrase.”

Blunt has also warned a future Democratic president could take advantage of the precedent set by the national emergency declaration and take action on issues such as gun control or environmental regulations.

We have not always been very big fans of Senator Blunt but on this issue he is right on the money. Kudos to Senator Blunt for doing his job. He should view it as a badge of honor that Wanda Martens and the rest of what David Leach AKA “The Strident Conservative” calls the Fellowship of the Pharisees dislike him so much. Keep up the good work Senator. History will judge you well. As for most of the GOP in this year of our lord two thousand and nineteen. Historians will record how too many who are supposed to carry the political torch of Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan and William F Buckley. Decided to sell their souls to Donald Trump, Mike Pence, Jerry Falwell, Jr and Steve Miller. Let us fight on fellow #NeverTrumpers!!!!

The False Christian that is Mike Pence

False Prophet Mike Pence

It is a nonstop source of both frustration and sorrow that too many of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Fall for the lie that Vice President Mike Pence is a fellow Christian. To the best of IR's knowledge he only adopts the pose of being Christian as he does being a conservative to further his own ends! As Charlie White is fond of pointing out: "Pence is a medical miracle he is the only man to be born with literally no spine!" But slowly but surely other genuine believers, republicans, conservatives, what have you have begun to discern just how much of Mike Pence's image is a fraud.
Today over at Redstate Susan Wright has made the case against Mike Pence better than we could hope to do. So we are quoting from her article "VP Pence Weaves a Tale of Trump the Believer":

Lying is a sin.

In the wake of news that Trump is rolling on another campaign promise (moving the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem), comes news of a Vice President Mike Pence interview, aimed at [American] Christians.

This was another one of those stomach-churning propaganda interviews, meant to check the mortar holding Trump’s evangelical base in place.
“Let me be clear: President Trump is a believer and so am I,” Pence told Christian Broadcast Networking correspondent David Brody in an interview excerpt published Sunday.

“And we understand the role of faith in the life of this nation and the American people I think can be encouraged to know that in President Donald Trump, they have a leader who embraces and respects and appreciates the role of faith and the importance of religion in the lives of our families, in communities in our nation and he always will,” he continued.

Titus 1:16 AMP – “They profess to know God [to recognize and be acquainted with Him], but by their actions they deny and disown Him. They are detestable and disobedient and worthless for good work of any kind.”

I believe Mike Pence has lived the life of an actual believer, but like so many who try to blend faith and politics, he has had to compromise, and compromise is the death of faith.
You don’t call someone a brother who actively and often works to disgrace the reputation of the Body of Christ.
I don’t mean somebody who stumbles. I mean somebody who has built his reputation on being hateful, adulterous, and abusive, and who routinely flaunts arrogance, attacking anyone who doesn’t cater to his whims, showing absolutely no grace or self-control.
I’m talking about someone who works in profanity and disrespect for others. This is not the fruit of a believer, and Mike Pence should know this.
He should know it, but it appears he’s willing to finesse his words and work around the details of reality, in order to continue on with the fantasy of Trump as a godly man.
The VP further spoke of Trump’s thankfulness towards the [American] Christians who, when faced with the choice of standing firm in their faith, remembering God’s Word on corrupt leadership, or putting their faith on hold, declaring we weren’t electing a pastor, and putting the world first, did the worldly thing and crowned Trump their new king.
“I think he’s always very humbled and grateful by the support of believers,” he said, adding that Trump “has a heart of gratitude for evangelical Christians in this country.”

Yes. I’m sure he does.
Pence also pointed out that if somebody wants to pray around Trump, he doesn’t immediately burst into flames, so that’s a plus.

“I’ve been with this president in the Oval Office with religious leaders when people have asked to pause for a moment of prayer, and the president readily embraces that,” he said.
1 Timothy 6:3-5 AMP – If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine and teaching which is in agreement with godliness (personal integrity, upright behavior), he is conceited and woefully ignorant [understanding nothing]. He has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, which produces envy, quarrels, verbal abuse, evil suspicions, and perpetual friction between men who are corrupted in mind and deprived of the truth, who think that godliness is a source of profit [a lucrative, money-making business—withdraw from them].”
Trump boasted during the presidential election that “the evangelicals love me.”
Absolutely, because the [American] church now sees pulling our faith down to be equal with politics is better than demanding politics be raised up to a standard that meets our faith.
I have to wonder if Mike Pence actually has a conscience that can feel shame for his part in all of this?

The answer Ms. Wright is "no" Mike Pence has no conscience, nor does he ever feel shame. As much as we like Susan Wright and this piece she has written is good. Unlike Wright IR does not believe that Old Mikey has ever at anytime in his life really lived as a believer. We have chronicled here and here and many other posts to numerous to mention, Mike Pence's shortcomings as a man.

Here is what some others have said about Mike Pence as well:

Evidence of Mike Pence's questionable ethics:

So Mr. Vice President what say you? Are you ready to answer the call of all true Christians? Or will you refuse to give a defense? We are waiting.

1 Peter 3:14-16Amplified Bible (AMP)

14 But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness [though it is not certain that you will], you are still blessed [happy, to be admired and favored by God]. Do not be afraid of their intimidating threats, nor be troubled or disturbed [by their opposition]. 15 But in your hearts set Christ apart [as holy—acknowledging Him, giving Him first place in your lives] as Lord. Always be ready to give a [logical] defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope and confident assurance [elicited by faith] that is within you, yet [do it] with gentleness and respect. 16 And see to it that your conscience is entirely clear, so that every time you are slandered or falsely accused, those who attack or disparage your good behavior in Christ will be shamed [by their own words].

Todd Young Grows a Pair by Calling for Roy "Dirty Judge" Moore to end his Senate Campaign

Senator Todd Young-R IN

Embattled Alabama Republican Roy Moore's Senate run was complicated by some new developments today. One of which we are proud to report is that our very own Senator Todd Young has called for Moore to pull out of the senate race.

Maureen Groppe over at INDYSTAR has the story:

Indiana Sen. Todd Young joined other Republicans on Monday — including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. — in urging Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore to drop out of the race.

Young made the statement after a fifth woman accused Moore of making sexual or romantic advances toward her when she was a teenager.

Senator Young made the following statement on Twitter:

Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado, who heads the campaign arm of Senate Republicans, was more specific Monday in saying the Senate should vote to expel Moore if he wins the special election in December.

The fifth woman to come forward today to accuse Judge Moore of improper behavior is Beverly Young Nelson. Nelson accused Moore of sexual assault back in 1977  during a press conference today.

CNN's Eli Watkins reports:

An Alabama woman alleges Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore sexually assaulted her when she was a teenager, her attorney Gloria Allred said Monday.
Allred said her client, Beverly Young Nelson, would be willing to testify under oath and called on the Senate judiciary committee to hold a hearing and subpoena Moore.
"Mr. Moore attacked me when I was a child," Nelson said, adding that she was 15 when he began flirting with her and 16 at the time of the alleged assault. "I want Mr. Moore to know that he no longer has any power over me."
The allegations of force, if true, would be considered sexual abuse in the first degree, but the statute of limitations in effect at the time would have passed.

Nelson detailed her allegations in a statement alongside Allred, an attorney who focuses on discrimination and women's rights.
Nelson said Moore was a regular at the Olde Hickory House, a restaurant she worked at when she was starting high school.
At the press conference with Allred, Nelson said Moore wrote an inscription in her yearbook one day in December 1977 that said, "To a sweeter more beautiful girl, I could not say, 'Merry Christmas.'" She said he signed it "Roy Moore, D.A."
She said that one evening he offered her a ride home.
Instead of taking her home, Nelson said Moore pulled his car behind the restaurant and began to attack her.

"Mr. Moore reached over and began groping me and putting his hands on my breasts," Nelson said.
She said she tried to open the car door to leave, but Moore locked it and continued to grab her.
"He began squeezing my neck, attempting to force my head onto his crotch. I continued to struggle," Nelson said. "I thought that he was going to rape me."
She said she began to cry and beg him to stop and that eventually he did relent before telling her not to speak.
"At some point he gave up, and he then looked at me," Nelson said. "He said, 'You're just a child,' and he said, 'I am the district attorney of Etowah County and if you tell anyone about this, no one will ever believe you.'"

Nelson said she was inspired to speak out because of the women that came forward to the Post.
"I would probably have taken what Mr. Moore did to me to my grave had it not been for the courage of four other women that were willing to speak out about their experiences with Mr. Moore," Nelson said.
Allred said her client declined to take questions but would be willing to speak in public further should the Senate Judiciary Committee decline to hold a hearing on the matter in the next two weeks.

Here is an image of the yearbook inscription from 1977 and Roy Moore's signature from earlier this year:

Now none of us here at the blog are handwriting experts. But based off the evidence of our own eyes the signatures seem to match. Now the fact that he may have signed a high school yearbook proves nothing other than he signed the book. But it seems very strange that a man in his thirties would be sign some high school girls yearbook. INDY REPUBLICAN hereby joins with Senator's Todd Young, Mitch McConnell, Jeff Flake, Cory Gardner, Mike Lee, Lindsey Graham and Steve Daines in calling on Roy Moore to withdraw from the Alabama Senate Race in the name of human decency. In another post we will go into more detail on other principled conservatives, republicans, and libertarians who have refused to back this odious excuse for a man Roy Moore. We would be remiss if we did not pay this compliment to Senator Todd Young. Senator your stand is principled, courageous, and shows that you have a spine and some balls. So we will remove 50 sins from your political career because this is an awesome move on your part.

We highly encourage our readers to look at Ms. Groppe's column over at Indystar by clicking here. Also please Contact Maureen Groppe and tell her how much you appreciate this article she wrote. She can be reached via email at mgroppe@gannett.com. Or follow her on Twitter: @mgroppe.

Please also read Eli Watkins piece here.

To the victims of Roy Moore we wish to offer these words of comfort from the words of Saint John the Revelator:

Revelation 21:4New King James Version (NKJV)
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

UPDATE: It appears that Texas Senator Ted Cruz has decided to jump on the "No More Moore" bandwagon. Redstate has the story here.

UPDATE: Folks we are going to need a whole fleet of wagons to carry all the Republicans who now want to kick Roy Moore to the curb. In an unusual bit of new Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin is saying Moore should be dumped:

The Hill is also reporting that the White House has floated the idea of trying to send Attorney General Jeff Sessions back to his old Senate seat in Alabama as a way to get rid of Roy Moore.

The New Yorker is also reporting that Roy Moore was banned from the Gasden, Alabama Mall in the 1980's for hassling teenage girls.

In what we hope will be the last update on this post MSNBC reporter Chris Hayes has some interesting things to point out about Roy Moore's past:

Does Roy Moore have a Kevin Spacey Problem? w/updates

Ever since Judge Roy Moore won the republican senate primary in Alabama on September 26th. Several of our readers have asked us to examine just who Roy Moore is and to share our views on this man. INDY REPUBLICAN has known of Judge Moore for over 20 years now, and the almost cult-like status he has among some of our fellow conservatives. However IR has not and never will be supporters of Judge Moore. We have found him to be a huckster and opportunist who proclaims and espouses ideals and standards of public and private morality that he himself fails to practice in his own public and private lives. Most noteworthy being that his having twice been removed from his position as Chief Justice of the State Supreme Court of Alabama for refusing to enforce the orders of a higher court. Whether or nor you agree with the higher courts decisions in those cases, and in some aspects we don't agree with them. Bottom line is that higher courts issued there rulings and as a sworn officer of the court Judge Moore refused to obey them. In addition his advocacy of religious tests to serve in congress violates Article VI, Section III of the Constitution which states:

"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

The above mentioned recitations of Judge Moore's deficiencies of character alone in our opinion disqualify him from serving in and office of any kind. If this were all there was to Judge Moore we would end this blog post right now. But unfortunately more damaging allegations have come out against the Judge and these must be addressed.

On Wednesday November 9th, 2017 Stephanie McCrummen, Beth Reinhard and Alice Crites writing for  the Washington Post reported that in 1979 then 32 year old Roy Moore propositioned then 14 year old Leigh Corfman. Here is some of Ms. Corfman's story:

"It was early 1979 and Moore — now the Republican nominee in Alabama for a U.S. Senate seat — was a 32-year-old assistant district attorney. He struck up a conversation, Corfman and her mother say, and offered to watch the girl while her mother went inside for a child custody hearing.

Alone with Corfman, Moore chatted with her and asked for her phone number, she says. Days later, she says, he picked her up around the corner from her house in Gadsden, drove her about 30 minutes to his home in the woods, told her how pretty she was and kissed her. On a second visit, she says, he took off her shirt and pants and removed his clothes. He touched her over her bra and underpants, she says, and guided her hand to touch him over his underwear.

“I wanted it over with — I wanted out,” she remembers thinking. “Please just get this over with. Whatever this is, just get it over.” Corfman says she asked Moore to take her home, and he did.

Two of Corfman’s childhood friends say she told them at the time that she was seeing an older man, and one says Corfman identified the man as Moore. Wells says her daughter told her about the encounter more than a decade later, as Moore was becoming more prominent as a local judge."

Leigh Corfman is not the only woman who is making such accusations against Moore. The Washington Post story mentions three other women who have accused Moore of inappropriate behavior:

"Wendy Miller says she was 14 and working as a Santa’s helper at the Gadsden Mall when Moore first approached her, and 16 when he asked her on dates, which her mother forbade. Debbie Wesson Gibson says she was 17 when Moore spoke to her high school civics class and asked her out on the first of several dates that did not progress beyond kissing. Gloria Thacker Deason says she was an 18-year-old cheerleader when Moore began taking her on dates that included bottles of Mateus Rosé wine. The legal drinking age in Alabama was 19."

Before we get into some other aspects of this story. Here is some information about Leigh Corfman Judge Moore's chief accuser:

"According to campaign reports, none of the women has donated to or worked for Moore’s Democratic opponent, Doug Jones, or his rivals in the Republican primary, including Sen. Luther Strange, whom he defeated this fall in a runoff election.

Corfman, 53, who works as a customer service representative at a payday loan business, says she has voted for Republicans in the past three presidential elections, including for Donald Trump in 2016. She says she thought of confronting Moore personally for years, and almost came forward publicly during his first campaign for state Supreme Court in 2000, but decided against it. Her two children were still in school then and she worried about how it would affect them. She also was concerned that her background — three divorces and a messy financial history — might undermine her credibility.

“There is no one here that doesn’t know that I’m not an angel,” Corfman says, referring to her home town of Gadsden.
Corfman described her story consistently in six interviews with The Post. The Post confirmed that her mother attended a hearing at the courthouse in February 1979 through divorce records. Moore’s office was down the hall from the courtroom.

Neither Corfman nor any of the other women sought out The Post. While reporting a story in Alabama about supporters of Moore’s Senate campaign, a Post reporter heard that Moore allegedly had sought relationships with teenage girls. Over the ensuing three weeks, two Post reporters contacted and interviewed the four women. All were initially reluctant to speak publicly but chose to do so after multiple interviews, saying they thought it was important for people to know about their interactions with Moore. The women say they don’t know one another.

“I have prayed over this,” Corfman says, explaining why she decided to tell her story now. “All I know is that I can’t sit back and let this continue, let him continue without the mask being removed.”
This account is based on interviews with more than 30 people who said they knew Moore between 1977 and 1982, when he served as an assistant district attorney for Etowah County in northern Alabama, where he grew up."

After examining all the information at our disposal it is our sincere belief that the accusations against Roy Moore are credible. We are not saying that Roy Moore is guilty. We honestly do not know. But we have no hesitation in saying that we have serious doubts about this man's innocence. Judge Moore's statement in an interview with Sean Hannity yesterday that he "didn't generally date teenage girls when he was in his 30's". Sounds eerily similar to actor Kevin Spacey's response to Anthony Rapp's accusation of abuse. In which Spacey responding to the charges against him said: "Spacey posted on Twitter that he did not remember the encounter with Rapp. "But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior," Spacey wrote.  The bizarre responses on the part of Judge Moore and his defenders casts even more doubt on Judge Moore's personal integrity. In upcoming post we will be going further in depth with response from Judge Moore's campaign and also we will be hearing from what others have to say on this case. We will leave you with this video of an interview that Roy Moore's attorney Trenton Garmon gave last night to CNN's Don Lemon. After watching this interview we are convinced that either Moore's lawyer is a complete idiot, or he knows his client is up to some funny business and he is trying to tap dance around the issues. Very interesting behavior considering the statue of limitations has run out on these allegations.

Trenton Garmon's pathetic attempt to avoid answering Don Lemon:

UPDATE: Brian Stelter the host of CNN's "Reliable Sources" has just tweeted the following statement from Paula Cobia attorney for Gloria Deason one of the women interview for the Washington Post about Judge Moore:

It appears that if the word that the Moore campaign plans to sue the Washington Post over this story is true. That the women interviewed are prepared to hit back hard! Moore just better pray more damaging information doesn't come out about him!

UPDATE: CBS news has just reported that according to an old colleague of Roy Moore's in the Etowah County, Alabama District Attorney's office it was "common knowledge that Roy (Moore) dated high school girls". Click here for the full story.

Saturday Night Live Skit Spanks Mike Pence for being a submissive to the establishment

A great friend of the blog told IR of last nights Saturday Night Live skit calling out Mike Pence for being a submissive little bitch to the powers that be in Washington, D.C. Last week we blogged here and here about Mike Pence's grandstanding and disrespecting of the national anthem of the United States at last Sunday's Colt's Game in Indianapolis. The White House has since used Pence's childish stunt in a fundraising email. Click here for that story.

Luke Kerr-Dineen at USA Today has the story:

The national anthem issue was kicked up another notch last week when, on President Donald Trump’s orders, Vice President Mike Pence walked out of the stadium in response to players kneeling.
And now, in its first show since the pre-planned stunt, SNL is poking fun at the whole thing. In the skit, Trump orders Pence to first walk out of a Pacers game for players not respecting the anthem, then a Starbucks for the company not using “Christmas” cups, then a gay wedding. In light of the revelation that former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon's having promoted pro-transgender propaganda. It would be a real knee slapper if the gay wedding in the skit turned out to be Bannon's. IR does not believe Bannon is gay. But in light of what we know about the man. We wouldn't put it past him to be hiding something.

Here is the above mentioned SNL skit:

Rob Kendall of WIBC and Central Indiana Fame had this to say about Mike Pence's stunt:

Steve Bannon peddled Harvey Weinstein Pro-Transgender Propaganda in 2005

Steve Bannon (left) helps Harvey Weinstein (right) distribute "Transamerica"

Former White House Chief Strategist and Breitbart News Chief Steve Bannon declared war on Anti-Trump Republicans at yesterdays Value Voters Summit. One thing that Indy Republican is sure of is that Bannon did not tell the Value Voters Summit about how he profited back in 2005 by distributing Harvey Weinstein's film "Transamerica". Nikki Schwab of the British Daily Mail reported the story last Thursday October 12th, 2017.

Ms. Schwab writes:

As part of Steve Bannon's distribution deal with accused sexual abuser Harvey Weinstein, the former White House chief strategist's video company profited from a title that was groundbreaking for the transgender community.
Twelve years before it was considered a 'win' for Bannon when his boss, President Trump, banned transgender people from serving in the military, Bannon inked a deal with the Weinstein Company to distribute the film, Transamerica, starring Felicity Huffman.

The 2005 film – heralded by IndieWire as 'the finest U.S. film honoring what it means to transition as an adult' – was part of a video and DVD distribution deal between the Weinstein Co., led by Harvey and his brother Bob, and Genius Products, which was chaired by Bannon.

The deal was first reported by the Associated Press.
'Genius Products anticipates that the new venture will release to DVD a slate of approximately 20 theatrical films and a significant number of direct-to-video and library titles per year from [the Weinstein Co.],' a press release touting the 2005 deal said.
It goes on to mention Transamerica as one of the titles.
A 2006 review of the Transamerica DVD confirms that Genius Products ended up being the film's video distributor.

In the press release, Bannon is personally quoted.
'The management team has worked successfully over the past year to transform the company into a significant player in the home entertainment business,' he said, of the Genius Products team. 'Our relationship with The Weinstein Company – many months in the making – validates both our strategy and our team,' Bannon added.
Bannon spoke more personally about the Weinstein brothers in investor calls, unearthed by the Associated Press.
'Bob and Harvey are two of the most prolific studio heads in the history of Hollywood,' Bannon said.
In 2005, Harvey and Bob Weinstein sold their Miramax studio to Disney and launched the Weinstein Company.
It diversified quickly, with the brothers becoming 70 percent owners in Genius that same year.
Labeled their 'worst purchase' by Forbes, Genius went bankrupt in 2011.
Bannon, however, walked away with sizable profits from the venture, the AP found.
Bannon Strategic Advisers, the former White House chief strategist's company, made $500,000 from a consulting agreement with Genius Products in 2006.
Bannon was also awarded bonuses for more than $200,000, SEC filings showed, according to the AP.
In 2005, the ex-White House aide was also awarded stock options valued at more than $1 million at the time.
Bannon's deal with Weinstein alone opens him up to charges of hypocrisy, as his website Breitbart News has had a field day over the producer's lurid downfall, as sexual assault and harassment accusations pile up.

INDY REPUBLICAN also would like to point out that in addition to the hypocrisy involved in having done business with Harvey Weinstein. Bannon has opened up another can of worms by having profited and unashamedly so off of a film that would appear to go against much of what Bannon would say is President Trump's agenda.

Josh Delk of The Hill.com quoted Bannon as having said yesterday that:

Stephen Bannon on Saturday declared a "season of war" against Republican lawmakers, promising to help elect replacements for any Senate Republican who opposes President Trump.

Bannon told Fox News's Sean Hannity earlier this week that he was declaring "war" on the GOP establishment, saying he would support candidates looking to unseat Republicans who oppose Trump's agenda.

So Steve Bannon is faced with a problem. If he is as he claims looking to go after Republicans who do not support President Trump's agenda. It would be reasonable to infer that Bannon personally supports President Trump and his legislative/ideological goals. Then either a.) President Trump opposes the ideas as promoted in "Transamerica" in which case Bannon is guilty himself of having worked to undermine the "Trump Agenda" for cold hard cash, or b.) Bannon is saying by his actions that "Transamerica" does not go against Trump's ideology. And in that case Bannon has not done anything to undercut Trump by doing business with Weinstein on a film that is transgender friendly. The former scenario if true damages Bannon's credibility as an advocate for President Trump. While the later cast both Trump and Bannon in a bad light regarding their seemingly apparent opposition to the transgender movement. Specifically regarding a ban on transgender servicemen in the military supported by both President Trump and Steve Bannon.

One of the above assumptions maybe true. But logically one of them must be false. One possible way Bannon could try to resolve his quagmire is to publicly repent of his involvement with Weinstein, and then to either donate all the money he has made from his past dealings with Weinstein to charity. Or spend it on candidates and causes that he supports. IR is going on the record as saying we do not believe that Bannon has to give away the money he made with Weinstein, or that he even should. Our problem is that Bannon needs to acknowledge his past with Weinstein. If he refuses then he can and will be justly accused of being hypocritical. IR cannot predict the future but we are not going to hold our breath that Bannon is going to deal with this issue anytime soon. He most likely will not give back what money he has made with Weinstein.
